Helpful Hints to Get Moving & Stay Healthy

Leslie Boehlert Lifestyles Director lboehlert@ 772-800-2505

Well, it’s a fact of life…you have to physically move to stay healthy. There’s no way around it, but the good news is that any motion is good motion! Regardless of health conditions or limitations, there is always a way to feel better through movement. Achieving and maintaining good balance, strength, coordination and endurance are keys to living a long, happy and healthy life, and improving your activities of daily living. Here are some hints to help you get moving or to enhance your already active lifestyle (also for those who may be overdoing it just a bit): 1.

Rule #1: Safety First! You will never hit your goals if you are injured.

2. Get Real: Be honest with yourself about your health. Don’t get struck by the “Peter Pan Syndrome!” 3. Devise a Plan of Action: You don’t plan to fail, you fail to plan. 4. Pace Yourself: Start with small goals, achieve them and go from there. Leap too far, too fast and you will fall. 5. Stop Making Excuses: Anything worthwhile takes hard work. 6. Stop the Guesswork: Work with a Certified Fitness Professional who can help devise a safe and effective health and wellness plan designed specifically for you right here in Vitalia! For more information, please contact Terri at or Donna at
