Kim Dameron was named the 24th head coach in EIU football history on January 10, 2014. Dameron, who was most recently the defensive coordinator at Louisiana Tech, served as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois under Hall of Fame coach Bob Spoo in 2000.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS • Was named the 24th head coach in Eastern Illinois football history on January 10, 2014. Dameron had previously been the defensive coordinator at Eastern Illinois during the 2000 season under Hall of Fame coach Bob Spoo. • In second season with program led Eastern Illinois to an at-large berth in the FCS Playoffs after finishing second in the OVC with a 7-1 record (losing only to eventual national runner-up Jacksonville State). • In his season as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois, helped transform a defense for a team that was 2-10 the previous season and turned them into an 8-4 squad who would make an FCS playoff appearance. • Prior to taking over as head coach at EIU, Dameron spent the 2013 season as the defensive coordinator at FBS Louisiana Tech. The Bulldogs finished the season ranked 69th nationally in total defense after ranking 120th nationally prior to his arrival. • Dameron has also been on the coaching staffs at Cornell, Mississippi, Louisiana Monroe, Stephen F. Austin, Cincinnati, Murray State, UNLV, Missouri State and Arkansas as well as a coach with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League. • Began his coaching career as a graduate assistant under Lou Holtz at Arkansas (1983). • Made at least one playoff appearance in each of his coaching stops at FCS programs Eastern Illinois (2000), Murray State (1993-95) and Missouri State (1986-91). • Played wide receiver and defensive back at Arkansas (1979-82).
