Best of the Beach Kids Edition
A guide to all things fun on the Outer Banks for the little ones in your family!
Strawberry Picking! Strawberry picking is so much fun for kids of all age. I have a blast with Mason picking strawberries and then trying to come up with recipes to use them all up! About a half a mile before the Wright Memorial Bridge you will find Point Harbor Strawberries. They usually open around April and stay open until the strawberries are all gone. Don’t forget a wet rag for cleaning sticky fingers and faces!
Chocolate Sprinkle Strawberries -Chocolate Chips
Combine chocolate chips and oil together in a small bowl. I use about 1/2 teaspoon of oil to 1 cup of chocolate chips. Microwave at 30 second intervals, stirring after each, until oil and chocolate are combined and the mixture is melted and smooth. Dip strawberries into the chocolate, followed by a dip into a bowl of sprinkles and place onto a sheet of tin foil or waxed paper.
The Outer Banks has many parks and playgrounds for kids to unleash their energy and excitement. Most parks have picnic tables and pavilions so you can bring your lunch and make a day of it.
