FIRST COMMUNION Saturday April 30th was a blessed day for Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic parish and school . We had over 80 children receive the sacrament of First Holy Communion (24 OLPH Students and the remainder from the Parish School of Religion). Our First Communion classes have become so large over the years that we have two Masses (One in English and one in Spanish) on First Communion day. The children worked very hard this year learning the parts of the Mass, their prayers, and why Christ in the Eucharist is such a special gift to each and every one of us. The First Communion children have taught our parish and school to always remember each time we are blessed to receive the Eucharist we should make it as special and holy as the first time.

Double your Money (Give) Back OLPH School has been awarded a wonderful opportunity to expand our one-to-one technology program! The money is available to us—but only with your help!! Through a grant from the Osborne Foundation, donations up to $11,000 will be matched for the purchase of a second iPad lab and professional development. The lab consists of 30 tablets, a syncing cart and a MacBook Pro to operate the entire system. This funding will also allow teachers to take advantage of training to help blend current curriculum with usage of the tablets. Technology curriculum could be as simple as apps used to help reinforce the basics of addition and subtraction for our elementary students or as complex as creating, editing, and producing short films for our middle school students. iPads are also a great way to reach diversity in learning styles and encourage students to become active learners. We are currently sharing one mobile lab among all the classrooms. Having this additional iPad lab available will spark a variety of new and innovative ideas that can further the education of all students. If you are interested in doubling your donation to OLPH School by contributing to this matching grant, please specify how you would like your gift to be directed and use the enclosed envelope. You can also donate online at school.myolph.com/support. Please use the “Note” field if you would like your donation to be part of the matching funds for this project. We are grateful for your support!
