Over the last year, Sven has taken over publishing responsibilities for the wellknown Our City Weston and Davie Town Times magazines. Under his leadership, his team successfully launched the Pines Miramar Town Times, which now provides the same free local news to the residents of Pembroke Pines and Miramar. In April 2011, the team expanded its group of magazines with the inaugural Plantation Town Times. Now, 80,000 households enjoy our local community news magazines every month!
Sunshine Ranches Equestrian Park
S
unshine Ranches Equestrian Park has more than 20 acres of lushly-landscaped open space. It is a great place to school a horse, walk a dog, meet some friends or enjoy the surroundings. The park includes a 10,400-square foot practice ring, 37,500-square foot show ring, and more than 10 acres of horse and nature trails. The park’s public art feature, “Equestrian Oasis,” reflects both form and function. The main area is shaped like a horseshoe and contains earth berms, stones for seating, a waterfall, fountain and shade trees. When the sun sets during the summer solstice, it appears to sit perfectly in the saddle, where a rider would. Residents have celebrated the solstice since the park opened in 2004.

he Town of Davie celebrated its 50th birthday in November with a variety of fun and educational events that concluded with a Birthday Bash Party at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds. There were historical reenactments, a Police and Fire Expo, free concerts, trail rides, professional rodeos, bike rallies and more. Town officials sealed a time capsule that will be opened and shared with the future residents of Davie in 2061. In a poster and essay contest, students described their vision of Davie 10 years from now. At the Holiday Craft Show and Green Fair, residents enjoyed country music, local entertainers and hayrides, as they browsed through handmade crafts to find the perfect gift. They also had a chance to discover new “green” products and understand why it is important to minimize their “Carbon Footprint”. Happy Birthday Davie!
