Guests can see the beauty of Sequoyah State Park on a 3 1/2-mile guided trail ride that lasts an hour. It runs through wooded areas where 300 acres are set aside specifically for horseback riding. The stables also have children’s pony rides, and there’s a kids’ horse camp in the summer. Hayrides and cookouts can also be arranged for groups. Reservations are required, and hours vary by season.
State Parks
Riders can live like a cowboy on a campout or simply take a short ride through the woods in the area where legendary outlaws Belle Starr and Jesse James were once rumored to hide out. Daytime rides ranging from 30 minutes to two hours are available. The overnight trip are adapted to suit guests’ interests but can include sleeping in a covered wagon and cowboy steak dinners. Reservations are required.
