THIS WILL GIVE YOU ROUND THE CLOCK BLOOD SUGAR CONTROL AND HELP YOU ACE YOUR NEXT A1C EXAM

In early April of 2008, a small study was published in the medical journal called Metabolism. It should have been an international sensation. There should have been Nobel prizes and a triumphant press conference... because the study revealed a shockingly effective new way to help maintain healthy blood sugar levels. But instead of alerting you to this powerful new discovery when it happened, BIG PHARMA quickly swept it under the rug. Well today we’re breaking the silence, and we can promise once you learn this natural “Hushed-Up Blood Sugar Secret” your health and energy can SOAR!

What if You Had a “Watchdog” In Your Bloodstream… That watched your blood sugar like a hawk and instantly sprang into action whenever your levels get towards the high side of normal? What if you KNEW your blood sugar would stay right in the middle of the healthy range—and you could go on with your life and not have to worry about it so much? That’s just a small taste of what’s in store for you. This discovery is so exciting you may never worry about keeping healthy blood sugar again... When researchers gave this extract to people and monitored their blood sugar, something almost unbelievable happened. Fasting blood glucose improved—in just 90 days. That’s FAST, but that’s not all; the extract also improved A1C levels— which means it could help maintain healthy blood sugar over the long term, too. One natural compound that improves fasting glucose levels—AND helps keep your numbers steady over time...not to mention these benefits come WITHOUT side effects! Just imagine how fun your next checkup will be. These are the kinds of results that make your doctor say, “Wow! What exactly are you doing?”

And If You Ask Our Clients Whether Or Not THORNE BERBERINE-500 Really Is As Miraculous As We Say It Is, They’ll Have This To Say: “My triglycerides are down from the 250’s to 111, my LDL is down to 77 from the 150’s and my glucose is maintained in the 90’s. I no longer take Metformin and with the only two other pills I still take – my doctor said she’ll stop them soon.” – James G, Acworth “After nearly 20 years as a Diabetic, insulin has never controlled my numbers. I would always fluctuate to 300 and even at times 400’s. Since taking your Berberine my numbers steadily dropped from 270’s and my last reading was 132. I have been able to cut back on insulin without crashing …will be seeing you again soon.” – Alan F, Marietta

“In the past my glucose readings have always stayed between 180 - 200 even while taking Glipizde & Metformin. But now, if I halfway watch what I eat my readings are around 105-118 after taking Berberine.” – Greg R, Kennesaw

“Just wanted you to know the Berberine has been a perfect substitute to my prescriptions. I no longer need them since taking the Berberine and watching what I eat. You’ve helped me more than any doctor I’ve been to.” – Steve H, Acworth “Ever since I started your Berberine, I’ve never had to worry about my blood sugars. It took my numbers below what Metformin could so I quit taking it. I always used to feel bad when I took Metformin but since taking Berberine all my numbers run good and my doctor has no complaints! I never run out of this.” – Tom C, Hiram “The pharmacist recommended I try this to avoid going on another blood sugar med. I was taking Metformin and 2 other pills, but after being on this for a couple of months I’ve been able to duplicate my readings even while stopping all 3 of these meds. Won’t tell my doctor about the change I’m making until I get my next A1C.” – Kira W, Acworth

The Good News Is, No Matter How Much of a Wreck Your Diabetes Has Been No matter how out of control your sugar levels are or how little you exercise or how much weight your doctor says you must lose, you’re getting your second chance right now! Taking THORNE BERBERINE-500 will result in the peace of mind that comes from KNOWING your blood sugar is staying healthy. And I want to save you time and money by letting you know that THORNE BERBERINE-500 is the ONLY product that’s going to give reliable results. If you do not see results, simply return your empty bottle and we will cheerfully refund every penny you paid. My Independence and Theirs by Mark Orler

As a nation we celebrate July 4th as a collective recognition of Independence. We gather around pools, lakes, baseball diamonds and other sites to enjoy hot dogs, sunburns and freedom until darkness falls at which time we risk life and limb with Chinese-made explosive devices. Yep, that’s what it means to be ‘Merican, as a friend of mine with an overly-tan neck pronounces the word.

The Leaders in Property Management

Independence. That’s a scary word these days. This fear came up in a conversation with my mother in which she mentioned that “some” of her neighbors had their adult children moving back home and that she was glad that none of her kids did that. I told her that the feeling was mutual, REALLY MUTUAL, and that those parents must have just been a lot nicer to their kids when they were growing up for them to want to come back and endure life in a bunk bed and only being allowed to play their Atari 2600’s video games as an adult. She agreed, but then thought about what I said and got mad at me. This led to an additional conversation with my wife over dinner that night, in which I mentioned that my mother had said something about adult children moving back in with their parents and she stopped me before I could get another syllable out and said, “Little ears are around us, but let me say for the record that a VERY Biblical and VERY hot place would have to freeze over before I would ever consider moving in with your parents!”

“No, you misunderstand,” I shot back, “A biblically-hot ‘NO’ is how I feel as well.” At this point Daughter #2 perked up, “What’s bible hot?” “Do you remember when Johnny…” I began. And then I told another one of our “Johnny” stories where my youngest son took misbehavior and disobedience to a nuclear level. “Oh, yeah,” she exclaimed, “Mommy got real mad…and ‘said’ things; loud things!” She added. “Right,” I calmly explained, “Mommy got ‘bible-hot’ at Johnny.”

Meanwhile, Johnny sat at the other end of the table ignoring his broccoli and absent-mindedly rubbing his backside remembering what “bible hot” felt like. I went on to describe how my Mom and Dad, the people they lovingly referred to as Nana and Chief, used to get all biblical on me when I was a child and that those experiences encouraged me to become as independent as I could, as soon as I could. “Therefore kids,” I continued, “it is the responsibility of your mother and I to make life for you just good enough for you to want to visit us when we are old, but bad enough so that you will want to leave us one day and go make a family of your own.” Daughter #2 began to tear up at this and said, “But I don’t EVER want to leave you and Mommy!” I can’t tell from that statement if I am being a good parent, or failing miserably? But I can firmly say that at a certain point, Chinese-made explosives may have to be introduced to encourage her independence. That’s just being a good ‘Merican.

STYLE REPORT

by Tara Hanover

We are officially into our hot Georgia summer and the name of the game, when it comes to hair and makeup is LESS IS MORE!!!!! Trying to keep up with summer maintenance is so stressful-UGH! First the hair removal, from head to toe...that is a battle in itself. Staying on top of it is a FULL TIME JOB. Then trying to keep the make-up from dripping off your face is definitely a delicate balancing act. So I am going to give you a few tips that I hope will help you keep it pulled together when the days heat up. My rule of thumb for any time of the year, but especially when it’s hot is: Self Maintenance! SKINCARE-WASH, EXFOLIATE, MOISTURIZE (KEEP IT SIMPLE) Make sure you are using an appropriate skincare line for YOUR specific needs. Remember skin can change with the seasons. You may be dry during the winter months and oily during the summer. EYEBROWS-2...ALWAYS 2! Don’t let life happen and forget your brow upkeep. It doesn’t matter if you go to a salon or choose to deal with it yourself at home; having well groomed brows is definitely a game changer. Take it from me, unfortunately extra hair below your brows is never cute and no amount of make-up can cover it up. FACIAL AND BODY HAIR Embarrassing...but only if you don’t do something about it. We all get a random hair here and there and some unfortunately get more than others. However, there are many ways to remove it and trust me-it NEEDS to be done!

THE GOOD THING IS YOU HAVE OPTIONS: WAX - Does it hurt? Yes! But only for a minute. The cost is typically reasonable. You can use it for your entire body and you can get it done at almost any salon or you can even buy it and do it yourself. *If you do choose to do it at home be aware of the temperature of the wax as you can really burn yourself if you are not careful! TWEEZERS -These are a good option for brows and the “randoms”...if you have an area with a lot of hair to remove this would be very time consuming and painful. But I always recommend keeping tweezers on hand, especially in your car. Have you ever noticed how many rogue hairs you can see when you get in your car, once the sunlight shines in and you flip down that visor-YIKES! SUGARING - VERY similar to waxing. This is the combination of lemon juice, sugar and water and it pulls the hair off in the same way. You may have trouble finding someone who does it, but people who use this technique seem to love it. This method may also be used from head to toe. However, because this is the new, hip and “all natural’ technique you should expect it to be more expensive. SHAVING -I don’t recommend this method with a traditional razor, but I do like the “facial and brow razors.” You can get them inexpensively, in packs of multiples. They can be purchased at beauty supply stores and they come with a safety guard (Bonus!). These razors are specifically designed for the face, but can be used everywhere on your body. DEPILATORY CREAMS - This technique provides a cream that actually dissolves the hair and is also a less expensive option you can do at home. I recommend that you do a patch test that will give you an idea of the time that will be needed to remove the hair, and also let you know if you are sensitive to the depilatory cream. The odor requires that you use this in a well-ventilated area. LASER - This is the most permanent method of hair removal and the most expensive. Laser hair removal can be used all over your body but generally requires a series of sessions for permanent removal. I will tell you though, it does hurt (in my opinion, it feels like someone popping you with a rubber band over and over-ouch!) but in the end it is worth it. So once all of the unwanted hair is gone: EVALUATE THE SITUATION - Remember make-up is not a mask. There is no need for a heavy foundation especially if you have clear skin. A light foundation or tinted moisturizer is plenty to even out your skin tone for summer. If you have some imperfections (pimples) or dark circles feel free to use a concealer but ONLY in the specific areas needed. Often people get a bit wild with concealer and it ends up becoming foundation. A tiny bit goes a long way! The good news is once you get your maintenance routine down everything else should fall into place.

Good Skincare + Less Hair = Less Stress and Less Makeup in these summer months

Letters from Abroad by Kelly Dean One Sunday last month, I was playing around on Skyscanner. net, a flight search page that allows you to search flights by month or destination. I entered May flights from Manchester Airport to ‘anywhere’. The page sorted the destinations by price by country. The first ones that always appear from Manchester are Ireland and Spain, as these are the cheapest destinations for British travelers. I kept scrolling down past Belgium and Germany, and saw that there were surprisingly decent prices to Sweden the upcoming weekend. I’d wanted to see more of Scandinavia after my trip to Copenhagen, Denmark the year before. The flights were that Friday afternoon, returning late Sunday night. I don’t normally plan trips on such short notice, but all the other weekends in May and June were not near as reasonable. Within minutes of finding the flights, I was messaging my friend from Munich (the one who went with me to Dublin in March). She, like myself, rarely turns down an opportunity to go somewhere new. The plan was to meet up in the Stockholm central train station Friday night.

My first impression after landing at Stockholm Arlanda Airport was that it was stereotypical of what you would imagine Scandinavia to be. It was very modern-looking and super clean. And everyone spoke perfect English. Not five minutes after arriving at the train station, two guys stopped me and asked me for directions. This would be the first of many people mistaking me for being Swedish. This kind of thing never happens to me in Spain. Per our usual routine, we signed up for the free walking tour. If you read my May column, you will remember we did the free walking tour in Spanish on our last trip to Dublin. We didn’t see a Spanish option this time, but oddly enough, there were some Spanish people in our group. On our tour we learned a lot about famous Swedish brands like Ikea, H & M, and Skype. I can’t verify if this is actually true, but our guide told us that due to national rivalry with neighboring Denmark, the Ikea owners named all carpets and rugs after Danish towns and all furniture after Swedish towns. That way Sweden was always over Denmark. Next time you are in Ikea at Atlantic Station, google some of the names and see if it’s right! During the tour, we visited the Stockholm Concert Hall, the location of the Nobel Prize ceremony and the Kreditbanken, the site of the infamous “Stockholm Syndrome” hostage situation. The tour ended outside the Opera House and we walked across the Lilla Värtan River to the Royal Palace, just in time to see the changing of the guard. Other highlights of our trip included wandering through the Gamla Stan (Old Town) where the capital was founded, eating Swedish meatballs in Södermalm district, taking in the views of the city’s islands from the Gondolen tower, and seeing an intact ship from 1628 in the Vasa Museum. I would definitely recommend Stockholm for a visit, but you might want to avoid winter unless you like really long nights- the sun sets around 3:00pm!

Contracts and Closing Question:

COMING

“HOA Letters - Who Pays and When?”

EARLY 2018 To Kennesaw

by Gillen Joachim - GANEK WRIGHT MINSK PC www.titlelaw.com

In South Carolina, Homeowners’ Associations are often referred to as REGIMES. In Georgia it often feels like they should nearly all be called by that name or worse.

55+ Rentals For An Entirely New Active Adult Life Visit our Leasing Showroom at: 1300 Earnest Young Parkway • Suite 260 Kennesaw, GA 30144

At closings I have often heard sellers tell buyers, “Watch out for the HOA. They can be pains in the…” It does seem that most HOAs are fairly even-handed over time with the management of amenities and the enforcement of rules designed to keep the association funded and the properties as presentable as possible. Sometimes they can be a bit overbearing in those efforts, though. What has become even more of a nuisance of late is how long the HOA management companies can take to send a dues/fees/fines status on behalf of a seller who is selling their home. Recently we have received responses in our office from HOA management companies stating their typical turnaround time for an HOA letter is 2 or even 3 weeks. On top of that, the vast majority of HOA management companies require prepayment of the inquiry fee for the letter and sometimes the transfer fee as well. Often those fees are several hundred dollars. Thankfully, the 2017 Georgia Association of Realtors forms are clear as to who should pay these fees (whether or not they are disclosed.) However, be forewarned that as a seller, if you do not disclose these fees, you will have to pay them. As always, at Ganek, PC we have trained and helpful attorneys and staff to assist you with questions on this or any other topic related to real property purchases in Georgia. 678-247-1157 MARIETTA OFFICE 678-265-8078 KENNESAW OFFICE

Be prepared for crazy. I have a friend who said the minute the engagement was announced, the crazy would start. And she was right. It came in different forms, from strange advice, to proph. of imminent doom for any marriage, to strange family behavior and unusual and not always esies logical requests from the bride.

Remember it is her day. The wedding day is about the bride and groom so unless there is an unusual circumstance or something is too costly, the decisions should come from them. No matter . badly you want to do something your way, it is not your day. how

Stand up for the Bride. You are going to have to interact with quite a few service providers and you will have to step in at least once to make sure that the experience of wedding preparation is. a good one. My chance to do this came when we went wedding dress shopping. We went to a beautiful, but tiny boutique and when we entered, the woman who was in charge of taking care of us, did not greet us or tell us her name. She immediately said, “There are too many of you to go back to the viewing area.”, to which I replied “I guess this is a bad time to tell you that the maid of honor isn’t here yet.” She said “Four of you can come back (we had 9) and the rest of you will have to stay up here.” Um no. Everything worked out after some boundaries were established.

Break with Tradition When Necessary. When my daughter asked me to speak at the reception, my first thought was I think it’s just supposed to be the father, but I spent hours in excru. pain bringing her into the world, and then experienced every emotion known while bringing ciating her up. I think that I can find a few things to say.

Have a sense of humor. There will be things that happen that will make you shake your head, and others that leave you with your mouth open in shock. No matter what happens, try to . at it. Share the moments with friends and feel better when they are equally shocked at the laugh stories.

Be patient. This is a special life moment and hopefully will be the only marriage for your daughter. So when another crazy request comes to you or something does not go as planned, just breathe and . say “Oh, well.”

PAGE 17

Enjoy the moments. Instead of always worrying or trying to manage the moment, enjoy what is happening. . Soak up being with friends and family and experiencing an amazing event of a lifetime with your daughter.

Realize that everyone will have at least one meltdown. There is just too much at stake . to think that everything will go smoothly without stress, so just realize that when tears come, just listen and try to provide some reassurance and calm.

Do something special for your daughter. You have a special bond with . your daughter, and amid all the chaos, let her know how much she is loved. I found a book called, “What I Love about You” where you can insert different things that make her special to you.

Have a plan B. Something is going to go wrong. It’s just inevita. I ordered amazing wedding shower favors ble. and a beautiful door hanging of multi colored Gardenias. They all came the day after the shower. I ordered a personalized sash for the bride and when it arrived, her future last name was spelled incorrectly. As long as the bride and groom show up at the altar, the rest will just be a memory.

We’re sure that everyone has heard of warts, but not everyone knows the cause behind them. Warts are a viral infection and are contagious by contact. There are multiple types of warts as well as multiple types of treatments. Molluscum Contagiosum (MC) is a viral rash that is in the wart family, usually found on children. Molluscum usually appears as small (less than a half a centimeter) domed, white or pink, papules; some parents confuse it with an acne bump. These bumps are most commonly found on the trunk or arms of children under the age of six; however, they can occur at any age. Molluscum Contagiosum is highly contagious and spread by skin-to-skin contact. Summer is the most prevalent time of MC, due to children spending a lot of time at swimming pools. Although it can be spread at any time during the year, summertime usually finds children wearing less clothing and spending more time swimming. The virus can be spread by skin contact, as well as, sharing towels or washcloths. If you have multiple children, bath time should be taken separately to decrease the chances of transmission. Because warts and MC are viruses, our immune systems should fight them off and alleviate the rash; however this is not always the case. Doing nothing might eventually cause the rash to fade in a few months or even years. On the other hand, there are treatment options to lend the body a helping hand. Verasol, or “bug juice”, is the first; this involves a topical liquid being applied in your doctor’s office. Verasol is a blistering agent that, when applied to the skin, swells up and after a few days, peels off and removes the bump. This is a great option when there are only a few lesions to treat or when other treatment options have failed. This isn’t painful and the blistering should only last for two to three days; the only possible side effect is a possible white mark left behind on the skin. The other treatment is the use of liquid nitrogen. By applying LN2 to the wart (or “freezing” it), the entire lesion is essentially killed and destroyed. While it’s very cold on the skin for a few seconds, this treatment is highly effective.

If you believe that you or someone in your family has warts or MC and would like to have them evaluated, call Dr. John Kayal who specializes in skin care for all ages! Kayal Dermatology and Skin Care Specialist

The Top Five Ways to Keep Your Dog Safe This Summer by Amber Burckhalter

The pool is packed, the grill is sizzling and a shady spot to park your car has become prime real estate at the grocery store. Summer has officially arrived in Atlanta. As families head to the beach and leave their four legged family members to play and stay, we want to make sure you know the top 5 ways to keep your dog safe this summer. Go ahead and put on sunscreen, pack that passport and make your boarding reservations, as we have all the latest info to help keep your pup healthy, happy and hip to all things doggie! 1. Canine Influenza has made a return to Georgia so vaccinate. The “canine flu” is a highly contagious, respiratory infection of dogs that is spread by direct contact with infected dogs, by coughing and sneezing dogs and also on surfaces touched by an infected dog. The virus can remain viable on surfaces for up to 48 hours, on clothing for 24 hours and on hands for 12 hours! So, what can you do to keep your pup and others safe? Vaccinate your dog fully against H3N2, including the booster that follows the initial vaccine and avoid any free-play areas or nose-to-nose greetings on walks, etc… where the health and vaccine status of a dog is unknown. A dog that looks healthy may not be and canine flu can strike very quickly in a dog that was seemingly healthy 24 - 48 hours earlier. Speak to your veterinarian to help make the best choice for your dog and their health.

2. Heat in the south can be brutal and, as the temperature rises, so does the threat of heat stroke and other heat-related health issues in dogs. Make sure your pup has access to shade and cool areas, lots of cold and clean water and avoid over exerting them with exercise outdoors as dogs can over heat in the summer very quickly. Pick up a baby pool and fill it with cool water and toys and watch your pup fall in love! Finally, remember how hot that Georgia asphalt is! Minimize your pup’s time standing on it. 3. Fourth of July fireworks are beautiful and most of us really enjoy watching them. However, many dogs find the sudden explosions of sound and color very upsetting and scary and more dogs are lost on July 4th than any other day of the year! So, leave Lassie at home while you enjoy the party. If you already know your pup is nervous around fireworks, provide them with a safe spot at home with soothing music or the television on until the show is over. Closing the curtains or blinds can help if the sight of flashing causes distress as well. 4. Taking your pup along on the family trip? Remember to never leave a dog in your vehicle for any length of time as this can have catastrophic results due to rapidly rising temperatures. Pack their bed, food and favorite toys and make sure you check their collar has the correct identification tag and information, just in case! 5. Water-bound? Whether it is a boat, canoe or kayak, make sure you put your dog in a life jacket. Dogs can struggle in water just as people can, including accidentally falling into water with no way to get out. Fast moving boats and jet skis can toss pups overboard. So, if you are enjoying the lake together, keep them safe by putting them in a life jacket. Take along some floating toys and enjoy exercise that is cooler and safer in this heat! We hope you have an amazing summer and Fourth of July with your friends and family!
