Dear Brothers and Sisters, At our Convention on June 16 in Mansfield, the delegates voted that the 2013 State Convention should be held at the Villa Roma Resort in New York. We will be negotiating with Villa Roma to insure that our Lodges and delegates get the best price possible. I believe the Villa Roma has much to offer our delegates and their families, and also any member who would like to join us for a long weekend with their family. The delegates also approved the 2013 budget, and through the hard work of this State Council, there was no per capita increase. It was unfortunate that we did not get the response that we expected for what would have been our first Family Picnic in a number of years, at the Salisbury Beach State Reservation. The committee will try again next year and hopefully the response will be better.

The Grand Lodge will host a kickoff to Italian Heritage Month with a Dinner Dance on September 29 at the Watertown Sons of Italy. Tickets are available at $35.00 per person by contacting the Grand Lodge. On Saturday, November 3, we will host our annual Purple Aster Dinner Dance at the American Legion Nonantum Post 440 in Newton. Tickets will be available at the Grand Lodge. October is Italian American Heritage Month, and we as Italians and Italian Americans have an opportunity to showcase our heritage to the rest of Massachusetts. Through the many programs and events held throughout the State, our Italian customs, folklore, entertainment programs, and our well established traditions, language classes, opera, musical programs, art shows, film festivals, and sporting events will all become an integral part

of our communities. Through these many cultural activities we are able to promote our Italian heritage in an extensive outreach program and bring awareness to our community. Lodges that are sponsoring Italian themed events during the month of October are encouraged to submit information about the event to the Grand Lodge so that it may be included in a special edition of the Sons of Italy News as well as on the 2012 October Italian Heritage Month calendar of events. Kathy and I hope that all of our Brothers and Sisters enjoy the rest of this beautiful summer, and we look forward to seeing you all at our upcoming events. May God bless you all and the Order Sons of Italy in America, and all our service men and women overseas protecting our freedom.

Sabato 3 novembre ospitremo l’annuale ‘Purple Aster Dinner’ all’American Legion Nonantum Post #440, a Newton.
