The following five (5) will serve as Alternate Arbitrators – Arthur Bennett, Angela Maraia, Maryjane Piro, Brian MacNamara, Ken Simoncini. There were two results challenged, that of the State Orator and that of the National Delegate for District 5. Both of these results remained as noted above with no change after the recount. At this time our guest National Past Historian Lucy Codella, who is no stranger to our Conventions spoke. Ms. Codella stressed that this election is now a time for healing and that we should always keep in mind our purpose in always working for the “Good of the Order”. It is always a pleasure listening to Ms. Codella, she always brings signs of hope, love and fraternity. Last minute notices were noted and instructions for photos, meeting for the Memorial Mass at 4:00p.m., the Cocktail Reception and the Convention Banquet. At the Banquet three members of the Order were honored for their distinguished service to the Order Sons of Italy. The Golden Lion Award Recipients were Gladys Bello and Arthur Porcaro, the Presidential Recipient was Dorothy Berlandi. Our guest speaker was National Past President and National Past Foundation President Emeritus Paul Polo. (See next issue for details of the Banquet). Saturday morning was the closing of the Convention and the Installation of Officers which was conducted by National 3rd Vice President, Dorothy Berlandi, National Past President Philip Boncore, Esq., State Past President Charles Perenick and State Past President Joseph Russo. This was a very impressive ceremony as many of the new officers were vested by their spouses or family. After the Installation of Officers, it was time for the Pot of Gold drawing. There were many happy faces as the winning numbers were called, and after a light collation the 95th Annual Convention drew to a close.
