Purple Aster by Dorothy Berlandi The Purple Aster was held on Saturday, November 13, 2010, at Spinelli’s Function Facility in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. The co-chairs for the evening were State Trustees Margaret Campbell and Denise Furnari, who, along with their committee, presented an enjoyable evening. Before any of the festivities began, formal photos were taken of the various officers and commissions. We thank Domenic Campochiaro for the fantastic job he does at each of the events held by the Grand Lodge. The evening began at 6:30 with a cocktail reception, followed by dinner and dancing to the music of Trilogy. Executive Director Brother Paul Guida was our Master of Ceremonies for the evening, and he introduced the Chairmen of Permanent Commissions, Benefit Insurance Commissioners, State Officers, National Officers, and our State President James DiStefano and First Lady Kathy DiStefano. State Chaplain Reverend Gregory Mercurio gave the invocation before Spinelli’s served a very delicious dinner. There were hors d’oeuvres, minestrone soup, homemade gemelli, Caesar salad, roast prime rib, double baked potato, honey glazed carrots, and Jubilee Roll, with red and white wine available at all tables. After dinner, State President James DiStefano introduced three special guests: the new Consul General of Italy Giuseppe Pastorelli, his lovely wife Lilla, and their infant son Andrea. It was a very special introduction of this young family who will spend many of the next few years in America. The display of the fabulous raffle baskets, which were donated by members of the committee, were a great success. The many guests enjoyed dancing to the music of Trilogy throughout the evening and renewing friendships of years past. We thank all who helped make this Purple Aster a success.
