Purple Aster by Dorothy Berlandi The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts held its annual Purple Aster Ball on Saturday evening November 22nd, 2008 at Spinelli’s Function Facility in Lynnfield, Massachusetts. This special evening brought together the Order Sons of Italy Family. Co-chairs of this event were State Recording Secretary Rita Maletta-Robak and State Trustee Lisa Luther. Guests greeted friends they had not seen for a while, and an air of fraternity prevailed. After the cocktail hour our Executive Director Paul Guida commenced with the traditional introduction of our National Officers, State Officers, Benefit Insurance Commission, and Commissioners along with their escorts. Before the dinner was served State President Florence Ferullo Kane welcomed all and thanked the Co-Chairs Rita Maletta-Robak and Lisa Luther for a job well done. The invocation was delivered and it was time to enjoy the dinner. Frank Zarba provided the music for this formal evening, and the guests gathered to talk and reminisce of many yesterdays while others chose to dance the evening away. (Continued on Page 4)
