MAYDAY!! A National Protest for Lyme Disease Awareness and Patient Rights Lyme disease activists organize protest in nation’s capitol WASHINGTON, DC (May 12, 2011) -- Take to the streets of Washington, DC on Saturday, May 21, 2011, and join the Lyme Underworld -- a collection of support groups, people with Lyme, and their loved ones from around the country -- in solidarity for Lyme disease guideline reforms. The protest will take place in Lafayette Park at 11:30 AM. Organizer Timothy Grey, Director of Under the Eightball says, "Stand with us as we demand a complete revision of Lyme disease diagnostic and treatment guidelines. Bring signs, banners, and most importantly bring your VOICE! Our silence IS their victory. Together we can raise our voices to a level that can no longer be ignored." Participants will meet on the lawn across from the White House in Lafayette Park. A complete lineup of speakers and appearances will be announced. There will be an open-mic for friends and families to share their stories. This demonstration of awareness is held in conjunction with other actions around the globe as a part of Lyme Disease Awareness Month. Please, do what you can to make a difference. "This is a call to action,” comments Grey, “and the time is now for everyone to let our leaders know, Enough is Enough!" This all day event is free and will feature speakers and music.
