Preschool Summer ECFE: Love & Logic®: Teaching Kids Responsibility

Ditch the nagging, drop the threats and lose the stress. You can raise great kids with techniques that are practical, proven and fun! Children learn the best lessons when they’re given a task and allowed to make their own choices (and fail) when the cost of failure is still small. Children’s failures must be coupled with love and empathy from their parents. Love and Logic® uses humor, hope and empathy to build up the adult/child relationship. It emphasizes respect and dignity for both children and adults, provides real limits in a loving way and teaches consequences and healthy decision-making. Summer ECFE: How to Raise Joyful Children in a Stressful World

Karen Pennaz, Orono ECFE Parent Educator, shares one of her favorite parenting books, The Happy Kid Handbook: How to Raise Joyful Children in a Stressful World by Katie Hurley. We all know that not every child is the same, and not every child will respond to parenting in the same way, which means we have to figure out how to parent each child as an individual. There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to parenting, but in the end, we all want our children to be happy. Join Karen as she facilitates discussions helping lead you to be the best parent you can be.
