About the Rural Development Programme Savills significant investment in career development continues with the launch of the Rural Development Programme (RDP) Unlike other development initiatives available, the RDP enables us, for the first time, to create complete career paths that identify the skills and experiences required at each stage of a professionals’ career. Whether you are newly qualified or consider yourself to be a seasoned professional, the programme has been designed to acknowledge your expertise and experience whilst providing you with the tools to support your continued professional growth. Working at the top of your profession the Rural Development Programme is designed to provide the practical skills, knowledge and learning opportunities needed to boost your business performance and career progression. Designed to run over an eighteen month timeframe, the combination of structured workshops, coaching, tutorials, selfpaced learning and reflection create an integrated approach between development and work based activities. Throughout the duration of the programme you will have the opportunity to demonstrate your current skills and identify opportunities for your ongoing professional growth, develop your strategic thinking and leadership skills and create a clear career plan.

The Programme

Programme Workshops & Tutorial Competencies: People Management & Leadership Commercial Acumen Communications Relationships & Networking

The programme will run alongside your day-to-day work activities and includes both on-the job and off-the-job training and assessment, throughout which you will develop the skills, knowledge and behaviours outlined in the two-page programme overview. The programme will utilise a blend of resources and reference materials designed to support your learning journey.

Savills Technical & Professional Competencies: Client Strategy Innovation Land & Property Management Risk Management

You will create a portfolio of evidence throughout the programme, based on your day-to-day work, and some of the tasks and assignments allocated to you, as well as recording your personal research, reading and general CPD.

Coaching & Line Manager Support In support of the structured learning, this programme will provide you with expert external 1:1 coaching support that will help you achieve your personal and professional goals.

The programme should be viewed as a complimentary to your day-today working activity, rather than as an additional working requirement.

Central to the delivery of the programme, project work will be a key element in demonstrating a working knowledge of your experience against the set criteria. The commercial nature of the project will allow you to demonstrate to the business your ability to translate theory into tangible results that will benefit the organisation and, in doing so, help Savills build on its success. 5


Assessment & Commitment The investment of your time in this programme and your achievements along the way is to be formally acknowledged through robust assessment of your understanding. This will be done in an ‘assess as you go’ basis and will cumulate in an End Point Assessment of your skills, knowledge and competence in the programme components. The learning that is expected to take place will provide you with 370 CPD points over the duration of the programme. On successful completion you will be awarded an ILM Level 3 Diploma in Management qualification.

Project Work Central to the delivery of the programme, project work will be a key element in demonstrating a working knowledge of your experience against the set criteria. The commercial nature of the project will allow you to demonstrate to the business your ability to translate theory into tangible results that will benefit the organisation and, in doing so, help Savills build on its success. Duration The pace of the programme is largely driven by the individual. Whilst a structured timetable of workshops will be set, much of the learning and the demonstration of your skills through documented evidence will be under your own control. Typically, we would expect completion of the RDP to take 18 months.

Commercially astute learning The design of this programme enables us to maximise the effectiveness of developing our professionals. Recognising the importance of offering rewarding careers that have scope to progress beyond the current role is at the heart of this strategy, one which allows us to put into place the skills and knowledge that sets us apart from the competition and which builds opportunities for future growth. We are taking advantage of the Government Apprenticeship Scheme to enable this initiative.

Location By focusing your development on the key competencies, recognised by Savills as fundamental to careers in the Rural Division, you will be able to do most of your learning in your own workplace, at your own pace. Naturally, when formal components are required, these are more than likely to be delivered in the Training Suite at Finsbury Circus House, London. We will also be utilising technology and will harness MyLearning, the Savills Learning Management System (LMS) to provide access to resources and, in doing so, will offer you the flexibility to learn at times that are convenient to you.
