Now, after ten years, Black & Blue, Huntington’s popular seafood and chophouse, continues to draw an eclectic group of discerning diners. With its elegant dimly lit dining room, the place has a sexy vibe. For all its elegance, owner Luigi Aloe, with the help of managers Rocco Furgiuele and Emily Sullivan, created a place that remains friendly, homey and casual. He makes it a point to get to know the customers and teaches his staff to do the same. They make a remarkable impression with their knowledge and teamwork. They show guests to a cozy, sophisticated dining room complete with chic paisley drapes, dramatic high-backed circular booths, candlelight, and plush carpeting. A saltwater fish tank with vibrantly colored fish separates the dining room from the lively bar where guests enjoy cocktails from a creative martini list, watch the game of the day on one of their flatscreens, and listen to live music (Wednesdays through Saturdays). Chefs Dave Guzman and Vidal Hernandez head the busy kitchen. Two chefs bring two different styles of cooking, keeping the menu choices diverse and interesting. Thai Calamari, and authentic Spanish Paella are house specialties and everything is made from scratch including the luscious desserts. They cater to special requests and have an extensive gluten free menu. Our favorites were an intensely flavorful Seafood Stuffed Portobello, and Swordfish with mozzarella, tomato, basil and red onion salad. The carefully chosen international wine list offers many selections by the glass, and beers on tap and by the bottle are numerous. Inviting in winter with its roaring fireplace or summer with an enchanting outdoor patio, Black & Blue remains a hotspot regardless of the weather.
