Jennie Doull (Full Time / Part Time, J.1), Helen Sutton (Special Replacement, J.1), Jackie McGowan (Part Time 2.5), Avis Hart (Ancillary Teacher Aide), Heather Skelton (Office), Doreen Adamson (Library), Weldon Pellow (Caretaker), June Morgan (Cleaner). ® Junior swimming Sports as well as a Parents afternoon tea to meet the teachers. ® The B-block pupils undertook a seashore study at Kawa Bay. ® Senior Swimming Sports. March ® Progress and Achievement Tests under way. ® Inter-school sports where six pupils were placed in finals and the senior boys came third in their relay. ® B-block visited the Port of Auckland along with a launch trip around the harbour. ® Visit to the film ‘Beautiful People’ was considered worthwhile by the staff. April ® Open Days for parents where each week was set aside for a subject area and time also set aside for parents to discuss problems. Week 1 was Language Programmes; week 2 Mathematics; week 3 Reading. There were discussions and talks on how to help children with their reading.

® Problems with bullying by four families with younger children being intimidated. A request to the Maori Affairs to visit the homes. ® The promise of two new classrooms within the next two years. ® A spate of unconnected accidents with some caused by the hard ground. Mandy Hunter, broken arm, physed; Gary Randall, broken collar-bone, bullrush tackle; Tony Hodgson, cracked elbow, skateboard; Stephen Grut, broken arm, fall from climbing frame; Jeffrey Williams, dislocated shoulder, wind gust off adventure playground apparatus. ® Visit by Mr manners to see Year 1 teachers. ® Year 1 and 2 teachers off on a two-day course directed by Mrs Bogie where Mrs Stanworth spoke on Reading and Mrs Bogie on Language. ® Interschool cross country organised by Neil Couch. 100 children competed in each event. Kimihia gained 23 placings. ® Mrs Pulham, Mrs Bogie’s reliever, left. Mrs Rowlands is leaving to go overseas with her husband and it is doubtful is Mrs Kirkpatrick will be back. Miss A.Dinnison has been appointed reliever for term 2. May ® R (Mick) Mather appointed as Principal, last holding the position in 1966 when the old school closed down. ® School Committee working bee on the adventure playground.
