Holiday Magic Grant Program Our community came together to support families with special needs children. Due to the pandemic, these children are facing both school closures and disruptions to their in-person therapy sessions, making this time even more challenging for them and their families. The ONEHOPE Foundation created a Holiday Magic Grant program to provide funds for therapy and equipment, a fulfilled holiday wish list, a catered holiday meal supporting a local restaurant, and an outdoor family photoshoot. We were able to fund $40,000 in grants, helping 8 deserving families with special needs children. Additionally, we funded over $6,000 in micro-grants to every family that applied for this program.
THE P R I C E F A M I LY SALEM, MA “Thank you for this grant, we are eternally grateful. I was able to pay bills, get food, have enough to move. Also I am getting Tanis a bath chair that he is able to actually take a bath again, thanks to your organization’s generosity. We are really forever grateful.”
Tanis Price is a remarkable teenage boy in Salem, MA. He has duchenne muscular dystrophy, and is an incredible advocate for disabled children in his local community. Tanis is assistant Ward 4 councilor in the city of Salem, and has met with the Mayor, City Council, Parks & Recreation to make changes to local parks to be more accessible to those with disabilities. Tanis’ mother, Amy, had to quit her job in March to be at home with him full time. His lung capacity is at 30%, so he is unable to go back to school due to his compromised immune system. At school, he was receiving therapy 3 times per week. Tanis’ wheelchair broke, so his mother had to rent one out of pocket with limited funds available.
