Jesus told this story as a picture of what God has done for us. Like the king who excused the servant’s debt, God offers us forgiveness for free, even when we mess up! God’s gift of grace has been freely given to us. There is nothing we could ever do to pay God back for all he has done. Because God has forgiven us, we are now able to forgive others. Because God showed us grace first, we are now able to show grace to others without expecting anything in return.
Answer: “For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.” Titus 2:11
The king showed the man mercy by forgiving his debt of 50 million silver coins. But that same man put another guy in jail for only 100 silver coins.
