MARCO POLO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (VCE)
THREE PHASE REFURBISHMENT AND EXPANSION PROJECT TO ACCOMMODATE THE EXPECTED 15 MILLION PASSENGERS PER YEAR Marco Polo International Airport is a prestigious city gateway featuring innovative materials and a premium retail offer. As well as leading the Venice Airport masterplan, One Works has also been commissioned to design the new passenger terminal refurbishment and extension to provide an extended capacity of 15 million passengers a year while. The completed passenger terminal was designed to provide a new forecourt, which will accommodate passengers arriving from all means of transport and is comprised of an 280-metre-long, fully glazed gallery. The sustainable approach has created a harmonious dialogue between the orginal airport buildings and the new extension. The next phases will see the construction of two new wings on both sides of the front terminal for other 100,000 m2.

BERGAMO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (BGY)
A MODULAR APPROACH TO THE REFURBISHMENT AND EXTENSION OF ONE OF ITALYâ€™S BUSIEST AIRPORTS.
Bergamo is the fourth most active airport in Italy and a recognized lowcost gateway for Milan. One Works carried out services for the principal airport expansion, interpreting and accompanying airport growth and related needs, whilst preserving airport operations. These core activities, over a ten-year period (2008-2018), follow an innovative modular concept allowing integration of the existing structure. Entrusted with a three-year EUfunded feasibility study for airport inter-modality (Trans European Network) One Works is also planning a railway link for the airport, thus increasing its catchment area.
A VITAL AIRPORT EXTENSION FOR THE AMBITIOUS RIGA INFRASTUCTURE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT. Serving the capital of Latvia, Riga International Airport is the largest airport in the Baltic states serving approx. 7 million passengers per year with direct flights to 106 destinations. With growing capacity demand for the region and the need for facility upgrades, One Works has been appointed to design the passenger terminal extension to serve up to 12 MAP. Designed in BIM, the new terminal extension will provide a gross area of circa 15.000 m² and sensitively integrated with the original 1973 soviet building to provide a new landside façade of the airport. halls, check-in and baggage claim facilities will provide an increase in both operational and public spaces to create a more positive experience for staff, airlines and customers travelling through the airport. Biophilic elements are being explored to create a warming, natural environment that reflects local character, including the use of natural, wooden materials for the internal finishes and roof of the terminal building. The introduction of a green roof will provide additional seating areas and a kid’s play area in order to drastically enhance passenger experience.

RIGA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (RIX)
PRINCE MOHAMMAD BIN ABDULAZIZ INTERNATIONAL DETAILED DESIGN OF NEW AIRPORT PASSENGER TERMINAL FOR A RAPIDLY EXPANDING AIRPORT.
This new airport in the holy city of Madinah is part of a wider renewal program for the overall regional and international Saudi Arabia Airport Network. The programme was designed to help the airport cope with the Hajj pilgrimage. Passenger numbers often reach the 8 million mark, putting pressure on the existing outdated terminal.. The masterplan maximizes the optimization of supporting infrastructural airport activity and enables the airport to double its capacity by providing a second, duplicate terminal and runway.

CONCEPT MASTERPLAN AND AIRPORT TERMINAL DESIGN FOR AN AMBITIOUS PUBLIC-PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP (PPP) PROJECT IN A STRATEGIC AREA OF THAILAND. One Works was recently appointed to develop an extensive concept masterplan to create one of the most innovative new airports and multi-modal transport hubs in Asia. Designs for the terminal building and airside facilities ensure the expansion of U-Tapao International Airport (UIA) can ultimately reach the 60-75 MAP required to meet demand in this rapidly growing market. The PPP Project will provide the main anchor and pivot by which the Eastern Economic Corridor for Innovation (EECi)
can achieve its full potential to bring new competitiveness and prosperity to Thailand. U-Tapao aims to establish itself as the third main international airport in Thailand for business expansions, as well as to better facilitate the establishment of a Special Economic Zone in anticipation of the EEC expansion. In addition, it this will serve a passenger link to Don Muang International Airport and Suvarnabhumi International Airport, while simultaneously supporting growth as a regionally important aviation hub.

U-TAPAO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (UIA) MASTERPLAN

SEA PRIME MALPENSA BUSINESS TERMINAL
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW VIP TERMINAL BUILDING, WILL FEATURE STATE-OFTHE-ART FACILITIES OVER 1,400M2 FOR BOTH PASSENGERS AND CREW. Milan–Malpensa Airport is the largest international airport in the Milan metropolitan area in northern Italy and now handles over 22 million passengers a year. In order to manage the large increase in business travellers, One Works has been asked to design a new state-of-the-art Business Terminal with two key objectives: Enhance the travellers experience for high-end business customers and optimize existing operations to support the introduction of the new terminal. The building is a compact volume and the presence of the new terminal from both the ground and in flight. The building is covered in panels of painted aluminum sheets with a ‘mother of pearl’ gray to provide a unique glossy and mirroring effect. This also provides a contrast with the dark color of the external covering to give more light to the entrances for welcoming passengers
DESIGN AND ENGINEERING FOR A NEW AIRSIDE MAINTENANCE HANGAR TO SUPPORT TWO AIRCRAFT SIMULTANSOUESLY.
Development of a new building intended as a hangar for use by Ryanair aircraft maintenance. Part of the design brief was to ensure the building was large enough for two aircraft to be worked on at a time. The project also included the airside works, external accommodation
external and connection to subservices, as well as design of the parking areas and external oil and gas storage. The project also included the extension and reconnection to the main power square in rigid paving between the hangar and the existing apron.

RIYADH METRO WESTERN STATION
OMRANIA’S ICONIC WESTERN STATION DEMONSTRATES A DESIGN REFLECTIVE OF LOCAL CULTURE AND HERITAGE WITH A LANDMARK QUALITY. Western Station is one of four iconic stations of the new Riyadh Metro. The design aims to be a catalyst for urban renewal, reflecting local culture and heritage with a landmark quality. The new urban ‘crossroads’ will host an above-ground metro station, bus station, underground park & ride facility and a large public plaza. This ‘Western Place’ unfolds into a complex hierarchical landscape that alternates a series of open spaces with more intimate ones, through the skilled combination of natural and artificial elements. The plaza, envisaged as a new and major urban space external to the downtown area, is a revitalizing force that will reconnect existing neighbourhoods, provide for transportation and services and boost economic development for the surrounding area and for the city at large.

DOWNTOWN STATION - RIYADH METRO
A NEW ICONIC STATION FOR THE INNOVATIVE RIYADH METRO PROJECT.
Designed by Snøhetta, the Qasr Al Hokm Downtown Metro Station will be one of the main focal points of the new Metro. The design consists of a vast public plaza, mosque, monumental entrance, three-story parking facility and underground connections to an off-site plaza. The station itself is made up of a public concourse area, retail, offices and ticketing facilities. The building boasts a distinctive stainless steel canopy provides abundant shaded areas, channels daylight into the station and characterizes the internal architecture. The interior’s large, airy spaces receive indirect daylight thanks to the concave roof. At the bottom of the station lies an unexpected wonder garden, which underlines a direct link with the exterior by way of large openings at every level.

FIUMICINO MARITIME STATION
The volume and flow of passengers determine the design concept. The overall composition identifies the site as a Sea Gateway, a giant atrium for those arriving and leaving Rome. The Maritime Station is a place for passengers to experience diverse peculiarities and historical memories of Rome.

DOHA METRO RED LINE STATIONS
DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE NETWORKS STATION IDENTITY AND PUBLIC SPACES REFLECTIVE OF THE CITIES URBAN TRANSFORMATION. Doha’s new underground network lies within a broader infrastructural framework and is one of the key constituting elements of Doha’s urban and suburban transformation. The project aims at obtaining a more rational distribution of pedestrian flows, providing more comfort and ensuring public safety. The design respects many characteristics of complex intermodal buildings, where the need to identify specific architectural features must not only comply with specific functional and design requirements, but respond to the analysis and management of passenger flows. Our work focuses primarily on the stations’ public areas, those places that will have a greater influence on the passengers’ travel experience. One Works is developing the architectural finishes design, which concerns the definition of the interior and exterior spatial character, aiming to meet Qatar Rail’s goal of offering services that meet the highest international standard.
GRUGLIASCO BRIDGE DESIGN AND ENGINEERING OF NEW LANDMARK IN AN URBAN LANDSCAPE.
The bright red colour of this distinctive overpass has become a new landmark in the urban landscape, giving a unique character to the railway station. The design of the pedestrian-cycle overpass provides a functional and visual centrepiece for a much wider urban renewal plan, which includes a new train station, the redefinition of the existing road system and the design of a new plaza.

DESIGN PROPOSAL FOR A METRO STATION THAT IS PART OF ONE OF THE LARGEST SUBWAY DEVELOPMENTS IN OSLOâ€™S RECENT HISTORY. The Fornebubanen is the largest subway development in recent time in Oslo and will be about 8.2 km long, extending from Fornebu Centre to Majorstuen. The proposed Oslo Metro Station creates a striking new point of arrival into the heart of the emerging mixed-use community southwest of
central Oslo. The design sought to increase light and view down to the platforms of the underground station, improving orientation and visual connectivity with the public space above. This connectivity was afforded by a simplification of the proposed over-station masterplan, eliminating the need for complex and costly station overbuild.

RAIL BALTICA STATION
ONE OF THE KEY STATIONS OF THE RAIL BALTICA GLOBAL PROJECT, THE LARGEST BALTIC-REGION INFRASTRUCTURE PLAN IN THE LAST 100 YEARS. Rail Baltica Station at Riga International Airport is one of the seven international railway passengers’ stations foreseen within Rail Baltica Project. The Station will meet the needs of the adjacent International Airport by providing an express link to RIGA city center and a connection to the neighboring Baltic States. The Station’s architecture aims at ensuring the maximum reception of natural light, one of the major challenges in Nordic Environments. The external canopy represents the Station’s main iconic element. The inner space of the station is enclosed by a shelter made of structural steel supports and finished with wooden fins. The screen is etched with vertical elements, with different levels of permeability replicating the rhythm of natural elements.
Our international expertise includes traditional shopping centres, as well as open-air schemes and urban destinations. We create unique destinations that reflect the local areas qualities and offers a sophisticated immersive experience for visitors, the local community and exciting brands.

THE MARKET - LUXURY OUTLET
Finally, the context is the subject matter, its articulation and variation within a common register, and the choice of materials and their ability to innovate. The four squares at the extremities, connected by fully equipped escalators and elevators, allow for quicker alternative routes within the shopping centre. All buildings and their individual shops face onto this path, configured as a sequence of common spaces, typically urban, which can host numerous events of various nature. The public realm on which the buildings overlook and have access, undoubtedly, is where the shopping experience is shared most. In this context, the height, the material and the articulation of the buildings becomes a fundamental element of the construction of this new destination.
A NEW LUXURY SHOPPING DESTINATION DESIGNED TO REFLECT LOCAL TRADITION, WITH SHAPES, MATERIALS AND COLOURS THAT SYMBOLISE THE SAN MARINO CULTURE. The distinctive topography is of contextual importance; the hillside allows the insertion of a “vertical” complex, in part nestled below grade. The design concept, an unusual solution for a shopping mall, permits one to read the site topography and at the same time drastically reduce the building footprint. Context is also the topological nature of the intervention, where space is generated and given form by: buildings whose historical references are those of hillside constructions, the scale of the public spaces in relationship to the built volumes, the “overall picture” recognizable in the local panorama, and the prevalence of collective space over individual buildings.
REFURBISHMENT AND EXTENSION OF A POPULAR REGIONAL SHOPPING CENTER.
This regional shopping center well is a testament to how the close relationship established between the client, architect and tenants determined a highly successful radical transformation that called for over 50 million Euros of contracted works through planning, design, and site supervision. The new food court is based on three specific themes concerning quality: environmental, dimensional, and retail offered. It is a covered plaza where skylights flood the 12m high space with natural light.

CURNO SHOPPING CENTER
COMPLEX REFURBISHMENT OF AN EXISTING SHOPPING CENTRE TO OPTIMIZE THE CURRENT COMMERCIAL FLOOR SPACE AND AN EXTENSION TO INTRODUCE A NEW CENTRAL FOOD COURT. Located in a wealthy catchment area on the western edge of the city of Bergamo with a catchment area of nearly 600,000 people, Curno Shopping Centre is becoming an increasingly popular destination for shoppers. With approx. 75 commercial units, the project focuses on optimisining the existing commercial floor space, as well as introducing a new central Food Court. Therefore, all restaurant activities are to be concentrated in a leasable area of nearly 3000 sqm defined as a vast interior plaza accommodating food and beverage services, diversified in type and size. The central space, completely free of pillars, is filled with natural light by a large stained glass domed roof. Stationing areas are configured as separate green islands in order to create a multitude of spaces for a wide variety of experiences.
EXTENSIVE REFURBISHMENT OF A POPULAR TOURIST DESTINATION TAKING INSPIRATION FROM THE LOCAL TERRAIN, MATERIALS AND COLORS TO CREATE A SENSE OF PLACE. Les Atlantes, a shopping center of approximately 40,000 m2, plays an important role as part of a major infrastructural hub in the southeastern outskirts of the city. The project concerns an extensive renovation of the shopping mallâ€™s interior spaces, in particular the false ceilings, shop fronts and floors. Given

the strong link with the territory and its resources, the project takes its inspiration from local forms, materials and colors. The continuous shop fronts are interspersed with three covered plazas whose large roofs, partly in stained glass, have been redesigned using materials and colors which emphasize the natural light flooding the interiors.

THE TOWNSQUARE DEVELOPMENT
The wider Masterplan, designed by a local Maltese architectural firm, includes a 36 high end residential tower, a boutique hotel and two office buildings. All three levels are directly connected to the surrounding Sliema streets placed on different altitudes, due to the specific peninsula morphology, and are intended to by used for retail purposes. One Works’ new design will provide approx. 5,000 square meters of semipublic spaces and the design of all the retail façades, as well as the renovation of ‘Villa Drago’ - an early 20th century listed historical building included in this project development.
A NEW UNIQUE RETAIL OFFER AND PUBLIC SPACES, AS PART OF A LARGE MIXED-USE DEVELOPMENT ON THE SLIEMA PENINSULA. One Works has been asked to redesign the public realm and retail spaces of three lower split-levels. The new design will provide approx. 5,000 square meters of semi-public spaces and the design of all the retail façades, as well as the renovation of ‘Villa Drago’ - an early 20th century listed historical building included in this project development. The Townsquare project is a huge mixed-use development in the middle of the Sliema District in Malta. Located on a peninsula on the eastern side of the island within a 10 minutes ferry distance from the northern side of Valletta, One Works has been asked to re-design the public realm and retail spaces of three lower split-levels.

THE GONZAGA INSTITUTE COMPLEX REDEVELOPMENT OF ONE OF THE OLDEST PRIVATE SCHOOLS IN MILAN TO PROVIDE STATE-OF-THEFACILITIES FOR STAFF AND STUDENTS. The school now offers a new sports center and conference hall, large outdoor spaces, and a multi-story car park. The facilities are open to students and the city at large. The courtyard is the heart of the school, the neuralgic center, both physically and functional wise, around which revolves the scholastic organism. The three new volumes overlook the courtyard and complete the fourth side. A low construction hides the car park access ramp. A long narrow glass building contains the new distribution system thereby resolving the complex connections between the various functions. Finally, a translucent volume contains sports facilities, swimming pool and a sizable gym, which hosts official basketball and volleyball games. One singular element, the independent entrance to the new sport complex that opens onto Via Settembrini for the public, formally externalizes this radical transformation.

DESIGN FOR AN EFFICIENT, SUSTAINABLE, COMFORTABLE AND ICONIC BUILDING, PROMOTER OF A RENEWED RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PRECIOUS EXISTING LANDSCAPE The project area, about 4 Ha, is located at the extreme north of the Rome Urbe airport perimeter. The program at the base of the new flight academy project involves the construction of a series of classrooms for teaching (10 of about 20 seats each), an auditorium (about 200 seats), laboratories, services, support spaces, administrative offices, a library / media library, a cafeteria and a large number of parking lots. The functions listed above are organized within a building of approximately 4,000 square meters, near which an additional area has been identified for a possible future expansion to provide for the construction of residences for students.

CITY CENTRE OFFICE CAMPUS
to be rebuilt due to the low level of quality first introduced. However, the interesting framed façade pattern of the 50’s building will be preserved and enhanced to provide an elegant local natural stone cladding and slim performing steel window frames with huge single glazing areas. The design proposal of the 80’s building envisages the replacement of the existing façade with a high-quality and performing glazed double façade to provide views through to the inner green courtyard and to the high quality urban environment on the other side of the urban block. New terrace rooftops will also be introduced to provide additional space and break-out areas for both employees and visitors.
EXTENSIVE REFURBISHMENT OF THREE DIFFERENT OFFICE BUILDINGS, EACH WITH ITS SPECIFIC ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES. This complex project occupies a deep urban block plot articulated around a common private garden and is located above three levels of underground parking. The three 10.000 sqm buildings that form this interesting urban block have been built during different decades: the small, older building dates back to the seventeenth century; one facing the main street was built in the late 50’s; and the third was built in the 80’s and comprises of far fewer architectural features. A key part of the Client’s brief was to enhance the existing features and performances of each building in order to appeal to either a single tenant, or three different tenants spread across the campus. TRANSPORT EDUCATION CENTRE (TEC)
park will not only host the outdoor exposition, with a part dedicated to mass transportation that over time have accompanied the nationâ€™s development, but will also provide a public place tightly integrated in the overall public realm network. The space will be experienced and transited by citizens following avenues and footpaths suitable for the most diverse means of personal transport - from bicycles to rollerblades and skateboards. From the TEC park grounds, visitors will also invited to take in the panorama and admire the major transport infrastructures surrounding the centre: from the subway to the highway.
A NEW STATE-OF-THE-ART CENTRE CELEBRATING THE PAST AND FUTURE OF TRANSPORTATION. As a source of education and entertainment, the new Transportation Education Centre (TEC) will provide a range of interactive exhibition spaces and recreational facilities to visitors and the community. The combination of these three major functions into one harmonious whole, will interpret the vision of Qatar Rail while enhancing the environmental factors and characteristics of the area, to represent the projectâ€™s real innovative approach. The Transportation Education Centre is designed to create a direct relationship with citizens and visitors, making them a pro-active and vibrant component to the museum complex. The exhibition is spread through the Transportation Education Centre Park, an open air public space which surrounds the main building. The
LAVENO RESORT AND RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT A FORMER INDUSTRIAL AREA BECOME A NEW WATERFRONT DESTINATION. One Works was appointed to develop the Ceramica Lago masterplan including the transformation of a former industrial site sitting on Lake Maggioreâ€™s shores. The strength of the masterplan lies in the reconfiguration, of the major part of the accommodation services that occupy the siteâ€™s western section. Part of the development included the introduction of the highly anticipated Laveno Tourist Resort and Residential development. All apartments enjoy direct views of the lake, the terraces are conceived as true open-air rooms, and public services face the new waterfront. Great attention has been paid to climatic and environmental issues by adopting active and passive strategies, resulting in high energy efficiency.

THE LOT BEGINS TO INTERFERE WITH THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT SYSTEM CHARACTERIZED BY LARGE WOODLANDS ON LAKE MAGGIORE AT THE MOUTH OF THE MAGGIA RIVER. Located in Locarnoâ€™s urban confines and the large woodlands on Lake Maggiore, this project required a two-fold design approach. Firstly, urban design aspects introduce the block as a morphological unit with an interior space, recognized and treated as a garden-courtyard. Second, the landscape design considers the intervention as part of a larger park area making sure that each apartment enjoys a natural setting on all fronts.
Commercial retail and services have been designed on the ground floor and are accessible by garden pathways and public sidewalks. The apartment layouts offer a great degree of flexibility for the realestate market and can easily adapt to different customer requirements. The interior design follows new standards of contemporary living with large sliding glass doors that open onto terraces overlooking the lake and woodlands sheltering the units.

HOTEL DEI CAVALIERI REFURBISHMENT
The project aims to establish a sort of dialogue with the existing building, enhancing and re-revealing some of its features from one side, replacing elements that somehow in the years altered the consistency of the original design from the other side. Extremely thin and thermal insulated steel window frames will restore the original façade design, currently affected by existing huge aluminum window frames installed in the past years. A new spectacular cantilevered glass canopy, following the rounded design of the main façade, will cover the new huge roof terrace. The interior design of the common areas reinterprets decorative elements from the 50’s, mixing more contemporary trends.
FAÇADE AND INTERIORS REFURBISHMENT OF AN IMPORTANT HOTEL BUILDING IN THE CENTER OF MILAN Hotel dei Cavalieri occupies part of a wedge-shaped building situated in the city center of Milan within a 1 minute walk from the Duomo, designed by Emilio Lancia in the 1949. The rounded main façade, facing Piazza Missori, represents a main landmark feature of this eleven-storey well-known massive Milanise urban block. The project is about the renovation and the extension of the existing Hotel dei Cavalieri. A series of workspace areas located on the right half side of the main façade will be dismissed and 71 new rooms, on 7 different levels, will be build and connected to the existing hotel. Aesthetic, acoustic and energy efficiency issues determined the necessity to provide new window frames for the main façade. The existing roof-terrace will be renewed and extended, including a new light roofing system.

CITYLIFE RETAIL & URBAN PLAZA
open spaces at different levels. Retail functions, strongly characterized in part by the fashion mall at the base of the Hadid tower, and the outdoor commercial activity distributed around the plaza and along the pathway towards Piazza VI Febbraio, permit the public square to open itself up to the city and the surrounding park. The public plaza’s configuration highlights three important aspects. Firstly, the plaza links the park’s southern and northern parts. Secondly, it establishes an East-West relationship, which correlates Piazza VI Febbraio with the fashion mall and park to the west. Finally, the central Tre Torre Plaza is an urban fulcrum and integral part to the pathway system described.
DESIGN OF A NEW RETAIL PLAZA STRONGLY CHARACTERISED BY THE ACCOMPANYING TOWERS AND PART OF A WIDER ICONIC URBAN REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT IN MILAN.
The commission included two different exercises: address the strategic retail planning approach for 40.000 sqm of GLA, and the new plaza design with high street shopping facing the public spaces. The double story plaza reveals itself at the two principle levels of the public domain, one being the towers’ ground floors and the other in correspondence to the hypogea level, acting as a junction between the park and the pedestrian axis Domodossola. The revision of the plaza’s layout stems from variations in its functional program, or rather of its spatial distribution, and the desire to create a single public place made up of two

The aim of the proposal is to provide a concrete representation of expectations, wishes and perspectives of the local community and stakeholders by providing a vibrant new development which includes a series of amenities, services, experiences and environmental qualities that can be appreciated by a wider catchment area. The public realm, structured around two evocative marinas, is defined by generous green areas and qualitative public spaces, as well as key features such as water features, harbor bath activities, open air concert areas, sport and sailing facilities, dedicated cycling paths, jogging circuits, a maritime education center and stateof-the-art retail experiences.
A DETAILED ANALYSIS AND PLANNING TO INCREASE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY FOR THE REGION AND ACROSS THE PORT SYSTEM WITHIN THE ‘ALTO ADRIATICO’ STRATEGIC REGIONAL PLATFORM. The Monfalcone Port Masterplan, developed by One Works and part of a National Program, considers the city as the region’s economic engine and central relay point. The masterplan was designed to achieve two objectives. The first was to analyse the actual impact on the region due to the future development of the Monfalcone-Trieste-Porto
Nogaro port system within the “Alto Adriatico”. The second was to verify the construction feasibility of a port system that can compete with the principle ports of Northern Europe, confirming investment interests in the Monfalcone port expressed by APM Terminals (Maersk) and Unicredit Logistics in February 2010.

The brief for this redevelopment project has been outlined considering a series of data and analysis related to this specific part of the city in terms of needs, services, transportations, planning forecasts, market trends, city development plans and requirements. The proximity to an existing urban university campus, suggests including a percentage of student housing, a student hotel and a new public square with retail spaces on the ground floor.

HELSINKI CENTRAL PASILA MASTERPLAN
heart of the scheme with a new public square connecting Pasilankatu to the existing station; a series loft-like spaces for artists, cafes and shops; as well as a new Shopping Centre extending through to the forthcoming metro line. The introduction of a number of polygonal towers provide much needed office space and residential units on the upper ones to provide a mixed-use development model based on pedestrian movement. The base of the towers stretches out to embrace the public space and a series of terraced gardens step down gradually connecting the different levels.

The City of Helsinki is the endpoint of a vast network across transportation lines uniting settlements of an extensive urban region. In this expanded framework, a high accessibility node, such as Pasila Station, is an ideal opportunity to create a sustainable urban environment to meet future needs. Important elements such as the Messukeskus Trade Fair, various Broadcasting companies, the future Töölö metro line, as well as the planned Pasila Station expansion are all in the vicinity. The new King Abdul Aziz Road (KAAR) is a signature urban development project providing connectivity to the Al Haram a long Grand Pedestrian Boulevard, flanked by hotels, commercial and retail facilities, residential buildings, car parking, public spaces and public amenities to support religious, social and commercial activities to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, other visitors and local residents. One Works is also leading the functional architectural layout and passenger dynamics simulations for two metro stations, the detailed design for four underground car parks (10,000 parking spaces), as well as the development of the public realm design and retail strategy for the boulevard. AN URBAN DEVELOPMENT BASED ON ROADS AND A GREEN NETWORK, WORKING TO CREATE A NEW TOWN BETWEEN THE MOUNTAINS AND THE SEA. The masterplan, based on a system of movement channels, structures the area of intervention connecting and giving full potential to the key features on site. A road networks build a vast grid connecting the A3 highway with the local coastal roads running along the shores. A green network allows for widespread pedestrian accessibility and form ecological corridors across the new development.
