The Sphere The Sphere is a mixed use development project located on Kofo Abayomi street, Lagos, Nigeria. The design and project supervision was carried out by Pieach architects in Lagos, Nigeria. The estimated cost of the project was $204 Million when the project went to construction. The project design has two towers with both towers housing a gym, industrial kitchen, spa and banquet hall inbetween on the ground floor. The first tower reffered to as block A housed the office spaces on the second and third floors, with residences on the 4-7th floor. The other tower reffered to as Block B had a residential apartment housing on the second to seventh floors. The building had a total of forty apartments ranging from one bedrooms to two and three bedrooms as well as duplexes and pent suites. Roles included but was not limited to the following: • Interior design and specification of all 108 bathrooms which were classified into 46 types. • Organising meetings between contractors, sub contractors and clients to ensure progress on site and contractor meeting set delivery goals and taking minutes of such meetings. • Site inspection and ensuring the quality of work carried out by contractor met agreed contractual scope of work. • Response to RFI’s and timely release and requested drawings to contractors. • Production of supplementary construction drawings to contractors as the project proceeded.

Residence Design The residence development was a proposal for one of the firm’s client in Lagos, Nigeria. The design takes into consideration the narrowness of the site as well as the client’s needs. The proposal did not go to construction but I did learn from the exercise and gained experience designing under the supervision of the principal architect. Roles included but was not limited to the following: • Development of concept and schematic drawings. • Presentation drawings and implementation of client feedback. • Taking minutes at client meetings.

Community Hub. The community Hub design was part of a studio exercise in graduate school to design a building in the south of Chicago with a CTA( Chicago Transit Authority) space as well as act as a focal point for outdoor activities in the south shore. The design in its scope provided an art exhibition area, daycare facilities, CTA interactive space on the ground floor and a cafe . It also made use of glazing on all sides of the building elevation to allow views into and out of the site. The proposal also had a set back from the road to allow more intimate views into the back of the site which had green vegetation and a water body to its advantage.

Collumbarium. Collumbarium design was to solve the need for burial spaces in Hong Kong. The design took into account the high value of land and to solve this by providing a space that could accomodate all the rituals of a burial in Chinese practice. It also had to juxtapose the collumbarium space with an entirely different use. The solution was to juxtapose this design with a shopping level where mourners could purchase fake money and other materials for burial rites as well as they can purchase refreshments. The final level is designed to be a place where distressed mourners could relax or go get themselves together before proceeding home.

Train Design The train design was a two week exercise carried out to re-think a mode of transportation, design it and propose a working principle to the design. The proposal was for a train that was driverless and that used magnets to levitate. It had the ability to provide views via the panoramic roof, the front and rear windshields as well as the side doors and windows. As such, commuters could enjoy views from the train. Also, the train had storage facilities per seat to free up the gangway and provide for a more intimate travel experience. The train was also purposed in such a way that it could be used off peak hours for freight haulage.
