The Traditional Way Of Manufacturing Olive Oil Olive oil is manufactured in the same process all over, but only the equipment varies in the manufacturing process.  Stone crushing Stone crushing is the traditional form of crushing the olives to extract the oil. In this process, two huge rocks are used for crushing the olives as the olives are placed in the middle of both the rock. Still, this process of extraction is used but by fewer olive oil manufactures as nowadays, most of the manufacturers are using large blades.  Crushing and Grinding In the third step, the crushed olives are ground to form a paste with the crushed olives. This process is done to tear the flesh cells so the paste could release the oil in the next step from a vacuole. This step is usually done with metal tooth grinder or with different kinds of hammer mills.  Malaxator process In this process, the paste is mixed for twenty to forty-five minutes, which allows the small oil droplets to combine with the bigger droplets. During this step, the paste could be heated, or water could be added to extract a large amount of oil.  Storage Tanks and Filtration After the oil is extracted, the oil is stored in a tank and then filtered to get the oil. In this process, the flavors are added and filtered.
