FRIENDS OF THE OLDHAM COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARIES November 9, 2011 President Tony Acree called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. Linda Goin, Director of Discover Downtown LaGrange, spoke to the group about Cultural District Certification for the City of LaGrange. Sally showed the group the Wishing Tree poster and sample ornaments. On a motion by Annice Johnston the October 12, 2011 Minutes were approved as written. The Treasurer stated that as of Nov. 1 we have a balance of $8025.36. Bookstore receipts for October were $49.50. Sandy Thacker moved that the Friends reimburse Annice for the $200 she advanced to pay for the Eagle Scout project at South Oldham Library. The motion passed unanimously. Ideas for funding future projects included presentation of specifics to the Executive Committee, obtaining receipts and describing the finished project to the Friends. A slate of nominees for the new Board of Directors for the Friends was presented: Hugh Blair, Main Library area Don Wells, South Oldham area Annice Johnston, Mahan area There being no other nominees, Sandy Thacker moved that we approve the slate as presented. The motion passed unanimously. The Board will serve in an advisory capacity and is needed to obtain our 501(c)(3) status. Annice resigned as Vice-President in order to run for the Board of Directors. According to our Bylaws the Executive Committee will fill the position she vacated.
Wishing Tree expenses for the ornaments are $12.18 for card stock and $33.95 for decoration supplies. Monday November 14 from 11 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. Friends will decorate the ornaments at LaGrange Arts and Crafts. There will be a tree at each library branch with wishes from that branch. Library patrons can contribute all or part of the cost of an item to the Library. They will not purchase the item itself. The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m. Respectfully Submitted,
