OLDHAM COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MINUTES August 9, 2012 Main Library 308 Yager Avenue LaGrange, KY 40031 Call to Order The August 2012 meeting of the Oldham County Public Library Board of Trustees was called to order at 6:30 pm, August 9, 2012, by President Sallie Haynes at the Main Library of the Oldham County Public Library system. Trustees present were Julie Wilson, Lonnie Hardin, Anne Murner, and Fred Tolsdorf. Also present were Library Director Susan Eubank, and Chris Bischoff, KDLA Regional Consultant. Assistant Library Director Mary Mielczarek acted as recorder. Public comment / Guests Consent Agenda 1. A motion to approve the minutes of the July 12, 2012, meeting was made by Sallie Haynes and seconded by Anne Murner. The minutes were approved. 2. A motion to approve the Financial Reports & Payment Voucher for July, 2012, was made by Lonnie Hardin and seconded by Julie Wilson. The Financial Reports & Payment Voucher for July 2012 was approved. Old Business 1. Budget Amendment for 2012-2013. A motion to approve the changes in the 2012-2013 budget was made by Fred Tolsdorf and seconded by Sallie Haynes. The changes were approved. 2. Board Certification and Temporary Certification awards. The board received their certificates from the Kentucky Department for Libraries and Archives. Susan will have them framed. 3. Contract for Maloney Marketing LLC. The contract has not yet been signed by Maloney Marketing LLC. New Business 1. New or Revised Personnel Policies were given to all of the trustees to review for the next meeting. 2. New Operational Policies Review was tabled Director’s Report 1. On Thursday, October 18, 2012, the will host the Regional Legislative “Meet and Greet” in conjunction with the Friends of the Kentucky Libraries The Advocacy Committee is still hoping that the Construction Grants may be revisited in the Legislative short session next spring. 2. The Library Kentucky license plates will be ready for pick-up on or after September 4. 3. Dierdre Morley, the Teen Services Librarian, and her family are relocating to New Jersey in September. Dierdre has been an employee of the Library since 2006 and has achieved great success with her formation of a Teen Advisory Group. 4. The Library has hired four new part time employees. They are Brannigan Cheney, Matthew McCoy, Kendra Georgacopoulos, and Tony Acree. They are being hired to fill spaces left by summer help and students returning to college. Special thanks to our summer help: Stephanie and Heidi VanderZowen, Tim Petrosius, Natalie Smith and Hunter Collins. With these young people’s help the Library had a most successful Summer Reading Program ever with over 2800 children registered and a grand total of 19,038 attending 426 programs.
5. Tom Adkisson with Deprie & Adkisson was in the offices this week working on our 2011-2012 audit. He also is doing a smaller audit of the construction project which is required from KDLA. Regional Report from Chris Bischoff Chris reported that Annual Financial Summations were due to be delivered to Fiscal Court, The County Clerk and published in the local newspaper by August 31. Communications We received an email from State Commissioner Wayne Onkst about the certification progress of Kentucky Library Trustees Adjourn A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Anne Murner and seconded by Lonnie Hardin. The meeting was adjourned at 7:10pm.
