Children Storytimes RHYME TIME Introduce your child to the sound and rhythm of words and simple concepts through rhymes, songs and fingerplays. Duration: 20 - 25 minutes. No registration is required for any of our storytimes, but space may be limited. For some storytimes, tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis beginning 15 minutes before the program begins. See details in the descriptions. FAMILY STORYTIME Bring the whole family for an evening storytime. Stories, songs and fingerplays will be geared towards preschoolers but siblings and parents are welcome. Please note: stories will be the same as On My Own Storytime. Duration: 30 minutes. For 3 to 5-year-olds and their families. SEPTEMBER 12 THROUGH NOVEMBER 14 Tuesdays ‫ ﺍ‬7:00 pm ‫ ﺍ‬Downtown & Indian Creek FISH TALES The Olathe Public Library and the Olathe Community Center (OCC) present a morning of stories, songs and play. For a small fee you can stay for a special Me & Mini Me Swim. Storytime duration: 30 minutes. In case of bad weather, the storytime will be held inside the community center. All Ages READ TO A DOG Young readers are invited to drop by and read to a cuddly canine. Upon arrival, check in at Children’s Services for a reading time. Trained therapy dogs provided by Pets for Life, Inc. Reading sessions will be limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 100 attendees are guaranteed to receive a free pair of eclipse viewing glasses. Bottled water and frozen treats will be provided. Take this fun class where you’ll learn how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. This class will discuss information on how to set up a babysitting business, what to do with behavioral issues, how to be a successful babysitter and child care essentials. You will also go home with a certificate of completion and a manual. Class will cover choking infant/ child rescue and infant/child CPR. Ever feel like making a more permanent record of the stories you tell? Or maybe recording the stories of friends or family?
