No registration is required for any of our storytimes, but space may be limited. For some storytimes, tickets will be handed out on a first come, first served basis beginning 15 minutes before the program begins. See details in the descriptions. FAMILY STORYTIME Bring the whole family for an evening storytime. Stories, songs and fingerplays will be geared towards preschoolers but siblings and parents are welcome. Please note: stories will be the same as On My Own Storytime. Duration: 30 minutes. For 3 to 5-year-olds and their families. Birth to Preschool BABY BOOK EXPLORERS R Explore early literacy skills with your baby through reading and play! We’ll explore a board book together and individually and your child will take-home their own copy to keep. Each session will culminate with play as you and your baby engage in various activities and with sensory manipulatives. Duration: 45 minutes. For newborns to 24 months + a caregiver. AFTER HOURS VIDEO GAME NIGHT! R We're opening the Indian Creek on a Friday night just for teens! Play video games on our new Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, experience virtual reality with some VR headsets, use computers, eat pizza and just hangout. We will have the Wii and Wii U units out as well. You may bring your own games (T for teen or younger) and accessories if you're willing to keep track of those items. Doors will lock at 6:30 PM, so teens need to arrive no later than 6:30 PM to participate. Teens will need to be picked-up by 8:30 PM. Babysitting SAFE SITTER ® BABYSITTING CLASSES R Become a Safe Sitter® and learn how to handle emergencies when caring for young children. Classes will cover child care essentials, how to handle behavioral issues, how to be a successful babysitter and how to set up a babysitting business. Attendees will also learn choking infant and child rescue and infant/child CPR. Attendees will go home with a manual and certificate of completion. Parents are invited to attend a ceremony during the last half hour of each course. Class duration: 7 hours. Courses are FREE for Olathe residents or students that live in the Olathe School District & $20 for those residing outside of Olathe/the Olathe School District.
