2014 MAAD Basketball Tournament by Lorrie Shank

Lincoln Association of the Deaf had hosted the 2014 Midwest Athletic Association of the Deaf (MAAD) Basketball Tournament on March 13-15 in Lincoln, Nebraska. There were 4 men’s teams and 2 women’s teams with 108 fans and 76 players. Faribault Deaf Club won men’s championship by 2 points against LAD Star City and Omaha Eagles won women’s championship. Olathe Women’s team and Omaha Eagles played two games (best of 2 games out of 3 games) and Olathe team lost both games. Olathe team had lost 5 players as they did not go to MAAD and thanks to Honesty Powell (coach) for searching 5 players to replace them at last minutes so the two women teams can play.

Brittany and Michalyn are sisters and are from Colorado and they’re happy to play for Olathe this year.
