Employment History Asidua ltd.

10 Weavers Court, Belfast | www.asidua.com | Referee : Seamus McKenna

I was employed by Asidua for the duration of my placement year as a student engineer. Positioned in the test team, I was mainly involved developing, automating and running embedded software tests for the Fujitsu linecard project before they could be released to clients. My job necessitated an extensive knowledge of the hardware and software operation, as well as how they interfaced with each other. I coordinated with programmers outside the test team to develop specific test scenarios, requiring adaptation of both hardware and software code and parameters, and to provide insight throughout the debugging stage. I had to quickly gain proficiency in computer languages I had previously not encountered as well as working in varying UNIX environments. I was also tasked with the construction and maintenance of test equipment and the upkeep of the intranet equipment portal. ABB ltd.

Dundalk, Co. Louth | www.abb.ie | Referee: Liz Lennon

I was hired for a summer job by ABB Dundalk after my first college year. I was mainly involved in the sub-assembly work for their large paper measuring sensors. I had to assemble and test a lot of the key components for these €100k+ scanners, and to their demanding high quality. They were also in a big period of change, adopting a new ERP system, and I had to deal with a lot of problems arising from this.I also had to work with the sub assembly team to meet specific production deadlines. The ability to interface with people at all levels of the organisation was a key requirement of my position.
