Hikes to Varden Duration: 3 hours Local guides will ensure your safety as well as make the trip informative. On the top of Varden you will get a beautiful view over Longyearbyen and areas around. Good hiking boots are required. Hiking to Plateau Mountain Duration: 3-4 hours The trip will start at the funicular station in Longyearbyen. You may see the flora, reindeer and lots of birds. On the top you will get a beautiful view of Isfjorden and Longyearbyen. We recommend warm windproof clothing and good hiking boots. This tour is only suitable for people who are fit and healthy as it involves rough ground and steep slopes.
Fossil Hunting Duration: 2-3 hours We beging the trip by walking through a big moraine landscape leading up to the Longyear glacier. On the way we will stop to look for 60 million year old plant fossils, which we may take home. We recommend hiking or rubber boots. fjord from Longyearbyen. The route is over shallow sandbanks close to the Advent Valley delta. Quietly we glide along, close to different sea birds, over cold waters in safe and warm dry suits. In kayaks you get close to the elements, birds and seals without polluting or disturbing the surroundings. We make a landing on the beach in front of the majestic Hiorthamn mountain. We go for a walk to the old wooden houses from the mining period just after 1900. Up in the hillside we find a nice spot and get something warm to eat and drink. The guide takes you for a walk in Hiorthamn that is packed with cultural memories. The kayaks are easy to balance, but still gliding nicely through the water without too much effort. The trip suits everyone with normal health also for those experiencing kayaking for the first time. Age limits: From 12 to 65 years of age.
