MOLDE, ÅNDALSNES & ERESFJORD Romdalsfjord – adventure between scenic roads

Journey through varied and dramatic landscape, from the open sea to deep valleys and tall mountains, into Romsdalsfjord with its three cruise destinations Molde, Åndalsnes and Eresfjord. Molde, the town of roses, with its view of 222 mountain peaks. The steep majestic mountains of Åndalsnes. The charming and secluded village of Eresfjord. Romsdalsfjord is the gateway to the Trolls’ Path and the Atlantic road. The ports of Romsdalsfjord offer a wide variety of attractions and excursions, and are also perfectly situated for outdoor adventures for smaller groups. Cruise ships dock in the town centres, great for independent exploration.

HIGHLIGHTS Trolls’ Path An exceptional driving experience along a route steeped in tradition, through scenery with deep fjords and lush valleys. The Trolls’ Path leads up a series of narrow hairpin bends, allowing a view of the dramatic mountain peaks surrounding it. Once on top of the plateau, the restaurant and viewpoints, with its modern Norwegian architecture, is a sight in itself. The view from the top is stunning! Stop at Trolls’ Path Gjestegård for lunch and visit the Trolls that reside there. The Trolls’ Path is one of the National Tourist Roads in Norway. Can be a roundtrip from Molde, with Gudbrandsjuvet Gorge, Valldal and Stordal included. Duration: 3.5 hours from Åndalsnes, 7 - 8 hours from Molde.

The Atlantic Road The Atlantic Road zigzags across bridges and islands, to the point where the land and the ocean meet the fjord. One of the National Tourist Roads in Norway. Amazing on a sunny day, and dramatic in stormy weather. Voted Norwegian Structure of the Century and the world’s most beautiful road trip! At Eldhusøya a suspended walkway offers visitors a chance to take a short stroll to enjoy the dramatic landscape. Great to combine with a stop at Håholmen Island, Bud Fishing village or the Marble Caves. The Atlantic road is open all year round, both summer and winter tours can be arranged. Duration: 3.5 hours from Molde, 7 hours from Åndalsnes.

Rauma Railway One of the most exciting railways in the world, built in 1924. The Rauma Railway is a must see when visiting Åndalsnes. Lonely Planet named it “the most scenic rail journey in Europe”. On its journey, the train passes several waterfalls, the salmon river Rauma, and spectacular peaks rising above the Romsdal valley, including the Troll Wall. On the way to Bjorli the train crosses 32 bridges, including Kylling Bridge. The change in altitude is 574 m. This is a great experience, in both the summer and winter season. The distance from the port of Åndalsnes to the train station is 100 m. Duration: 3.5 hours from Åndalsnes, 7 hours from Molde.
