“Wow! You look beautiful!”

Jenny and Brian CoverBride.HerStory.

Where did Brian propose? We were on a short holiday trip to Glenwood Springs, CO. and after dinner, we were in front of the hotel and he just popped the question! I had no idea he was going to propose! How did you react? I was so surprised and so happy…I started crying and said “yes!” We had met in high school and had been dating 10 years! I called my parents (who knew because he had

asked my Dad for permission to marry me) and of course, they were excited for us. On a humorous note, my Mom said, “it’s about time!”

Did you do the traditional something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? Yes, I did. My something old was a lovely handkerchief that belonged to my great aunt and my wedding gown was my something new. I borrowed a pearl bracelet from a friend and my garter was my something blue. What kind of theme did you have for your wedding? I wanted a traditional church wedding. One thing that I did use was peacock feathers. I believe peacocks are strong animals and bring good fortune.

What kind of flowers did you carry? My bouquet was so great‌exotic orchids, hydrangeas, gladiolas and callas lilies.

Did you have a “first look”? We did! Our photographer, Sherry Lynch, suggested this and it was really special. Before the wedding, our families gathered above the stairwell and watched as Brian turned and saw me. He said, “Wow! You look beautiful!” Afterwards, we had a few special minutes alone before the ceremony.

As you walked down the aisle, what were your thoughts? I was completely unaware of the crowd because I was totally focused on Brian. I was so extremely happy.

What song did you first dance to? We danced to Valentine by Martina McBride. What were your wedding favors? I made cute wine charms that were in small bags for each of our guests to take home. Do you and Brian have any hobbies or interests that you share? We are both big Denver Bronco fans. In fact, my garter was a Denver Bronco’s garter. Where did you go on your honeymoon? We had a wonderful honeymoon! We went to the Dominican Republic for two fun filled weeks of snorkeling, swimming with the dolphins, jumping off waterfalls, touring….so great! Do you have any special memories that you would share? Everything was perfect! The day finally arrived and everything came together and just looked perfect! The gorgeous flowers, the centerpieces, the awesome cake, the photos, our families and friends…..everything was perfect!

Erin and Thad

OUR HOT PINK WINTER WEDDING...

RealBride.HerStory. What a wonderful day for a wedding. The air was crisp and smelled of pine. Erin and Thad were about to be married. They had come a long way from the park bench in Hafer Park where he had first kissed her 4 years earlier and where, at the same park bench, he proposed on a beautiful fall day in November. Erin had dreamed of this day and it was exactly as she had envisioned. She was getting married to the man she loved. On this winter wedding day, Erin proudly wore a brooch that had belonged to Thad’s great-great grandmother and had stitched it to the back of her lovely lace gown as an

accent piece and special memento. She loves bling: feathers, sparkle, pearls, silver….and incorporated it into her wedding and reception wherever she could to personalize their wedding day. Erin even painstakingly created her “one of a kind” heels by decorating them herself with colorful crystals! Erin had a difficult time choosing her wedding colors. After all, it was a winter wedding. But as she looked at bridesmaid dresses in the traditional fall and winter colors, she just did not feel drawn to them. So, Erin followed her heart and chose hot pink! She laughingly refers to their wedding as “Our Hot Pink Winter Wedding”. WI loves this girl who said “no” to tradition and “yes” to herself! A favorite uncle of Erin’s played an important part in their marriage. He was the priest who officiated the ceremony and also provided some advice on walking down the aisle together instead of the traditional walk. He told them not worry and to “present yourselves to God and your family and walk down the aisle together.” Erin felt very relaxed walking down the aisle with Thad at her side and says she could feel the love radiating from him towards her. Her uncle also suggested that instead of the traditional ring bearer pillow, that they might use a small jewelry box to hold the rings. Thad’s late grandfather had a small, ornate silver box that was the perfect vessel to hold their rings and it became an important part of their ceremony and tribute to his memory. Another special memory for Erin is the letter Thad wrote to her and she read before the ceremony. To this day, she carries it in her purse and says she “always will”. What a sweet and endearing couple!

Wedding Ideas Interviews DeAndrea Daniels of Elegantly Finished Faces

THE FINAL DETAIL: YOU! You’ve spent countless hours planning the wedding of your dreams. Your gown is exquisite. The bridesmaids dresses are adorable. The food is going to be great. You’ve thought of every detail. Everything is perfect. Or, is it? All eyes will be on you as you walk down the aisle to meet your

groom. Have you thought of using a professional make-up artist so that you will look your absolute best? You will be the focus of so much attention and for countless photographs on this momentous occasion. Let’s talk beauty. You will want to look as beautiful as you possibly can on your wedding day. I talked with a professional makeup artist and found out so much information that I didn‘t know. Did you know that the number one mistake women make is not matching the foundation to their skin color? DeAndreaDaniels, of Elegantly Finished Faces, has talent, training and is dedicated to making brides radiant and truly shine on their wedding day! DeAndrea knows what a girl needs to photograph well. This alone would make me want to have her do my make-up! She says that foundation is the single most important makeup tool. Foundation creates a flawless look for your skin and is the “foundation” for the canvas of your face. Lipstick is essential for a face that “lights up” and SkyCheshure

ed Faces looks alive. Which, of course, again….makes for better photographs! While red is DeAndrea’s favorite for color pop, she also uses many shades of corals, followed by gloss. Long lashes are a must! And, what if you weren’t blessed with those of your own (like me)? False eyelashes, either in strips or small clusters, will make your eyes stand out and you will feel so glamorous but still have a natural look! A make-up artist will have the skill to accentuate your best features to make you look gorgeous. They will have trade secrets to hide scars, acne and other imperfections. Their arsenal of eye shadows, blush, foundations, etc. will facilitate in creating many different looks and for many different skin colors. DeAndrea is experienced with all skin colors, including Asian, Hispanic and women of color. She typically works with not only the bride, but the bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom. Doesn’t this sound like fun? Trust me, it is! You will want your makeup to hold up and look fresh for hours. Entrust your face to a professional makeup artist to feel and look like the star you are! CHRISTMAS WEDDING MEMORIES...

RealWeddingStory. Christmas greenery, poinsettias, white fur wraps, a trolley ride, and love radiating all evening long. Hours of planning culminated with an enchanted winter wedding as Alex and Chris were united in a formal church ceremony. All heads turned when the music began to see Alex walk down the aisle to meet Chris. She looked like a dream in her strapless Chantilly lace beaded gown with a cathedral length veil attached to her elegantly coiled hairstyle. Her bridesmaids gowns were a wonderful navy in a style that echoed that of the bride’s gown. As they left for the reception and due to the chill in the air, Alex wore a white mink wrap around her shoulders. Very charming!

A PROPOSAL, A RING AND GARTH BROOKS

RealBride.HerStory. Stew proposed to the lovely Bethany in Las Vegas in front of the renown Bellagio fountains for a dramatic and picture perfect proposal. Adding to the excitement of this fabulous evening was a Garth Brooks concert which included an exclusive backstage pass to hang out with Garth. What an evening to remember! Bethany chose rich, sapphire navy for her bridesmaids strapless satin gowns and used this lovely color as accents for her own beautiful ensemble. The exaggerated deep v back ivory gown was exquisite on Bethany who topped it off with a birdcage veil, her mink stole and wore navy heels to complete her gorgeous bridal attire. The white on white bridal bouquet consisted of white roses, plump hydrangeas and soft white anemones intertwined with greenery. The couple wanted a casual but sophisticated wedding where guests would unite to celebrate their union. The reception was fun filled as guests danced the night away and enjoyed delectable finger foods and beverages. The groom’s cake was a standout different flavors layered and encased in a orange and black checkerboard pattern and decorated with strawberries dipped in orange chocolate. A picture of their 3 year old golden retriever was on top of this awesome cake.

Wedding TIPS Krystle And Matt

RealWedding.HerAdvice. I’m another Pinterest bride! Pinterest was a huge help for all my planning. For instance, I gave pictures I had pinned to my florist and asked her to design a bouquet and arrangements based off what I had given her. They were awesome! I had 8 months to plan my wedding and one thing I want to pass along to other brides is that there is no need to stress. Nothing is ever perfect. Whatever happens will simply be memories. I do believe that the more organized that you are, the more smoothly things will run. I wish I had researched everything more than I did. I tended to jump the gun when I found something that would work because I liked the idea of “crossing things off my list”. Our venue, Rose Creek, provided a fabulous wedding planner, Abbey, and we found this to be extremely helpful. This made our planning much easier since she had so much wedding and reception expertise and guided us through the process with ease. Less stress! We were so pleased with our photographer, Sherry Lynch. She meet all our expectations and was a pleasure to work with. At our reception, we served a variety of delicious finger foods: green chili salsa and queso fundido, For Information on Advertising call 405.216.0747

sesame chicken satay, spinach artichoke dip, imported cheese platters, fresh fruit and berry platters and crab stuffed mushrooms. We offered beer and wine. I feel a cake tasting is mandatory. We went to one tasting that did not meet our expectations at all. We knew we had found our cake at another tasting when it was extraordinarily delicious. I was in heaven! We loved the idea of having assorted flavors of cakes and cupcakes and felt they looked and tasted delicious. Overall, I suggest not being too picky. You are setting yourself up for disappointment. Of course, there are small things I would have changed, but who cares??? It was a day full of family and friends and you get to marry your best friend! Our wedding was great!
