Pam’s

Dress “Reveal” Party!

A lighthearted, whimsical party sets the mood for close friends and family to have a private viewing of Pam in her lovely wedding gown. The engagement was

to be 18 months, but Pam and her mom found the dress in Arizona 2 weeks after the proposal, without the oohs and ahs from friends and family. Who could wait

Wi Exclusive Interview

RealBride.HerStory

Pam and Keegan Pam, first things first! I have to ask you about the adorable dog in your pictures. Who is that little guy? That’s our good friend, Ramsey. He’s a Havenese, the national dog of Cuba. He’s such a sweet little guy and of course, we knew he would want to be in our wedding pictures! I will tell you that he is a Diva Dog Deluxe! Where does the Pam and Keegan story begin? We met at Oklahoma State University in the athletic intern program. We dated 4 years while we finished school and were engaged 18 months - I’m sure this is some kind of record! I guess it goes without saying that we are big time OSU fans. Did you adhere to the traditional something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue? I did. My something old was my paternal grandmother’s wedding ring and my something new was my jewelry. My something blue was under my dress! My something borrowed is a special story to

me. Keegan’s dad had passed away years ago, so to honor his memory, I wore his highway patrol badge pinned to the tulle on my gown. What kind of flowers were you carrying? I remember that there were some white peonies and white roses, but honestly I used Tony Foss Flowers and I had complete confidence in whatever he chose and I knew it would be spectacular. He was able to incorporate flowers into my bouquet that were very similar to the flowers on the bottom of my wedding gown. Tony also did the awesome centerpieces you see on the tables.

You had a “first look”. Tell us your thoughts on this, please. I loved it and would definitely recommend a first look. I remember as I walked toward Keegan, I was absolutely giddy! I was so excited! Our immediate families were on the second floor of the student union building and were able to see both of us as we saw each other for the first time that day. I loved everything about the first look - it is one of my favorite moments. We did this at 4:00, allowing us to get pictures on the campus while it was still daylight. The wedding was at 6:00, so after pictures, we had time to hang out with family and friends in the student union before the ceremony. Not only was it fun, but it allowed us to get over the nervous jitters and be relaxed for the wedding. What was the reception like? Did you have any Oklahoma “touches”?

Basically, it was a party! The reception was at the OSU Alumni Center and we did have a special guest. Pistol Pete was there to give us “official” OSU congratulations and best wishes. I’d say he was a fun Oklahoma touch! The reception was great and people had such fun! We had a wonderful meal, fabulous cake, mood lighting, dancing, a photo booth... But, mostly we had our family and friends - who could ask for more? What was the first song you danced to as husband and wife? The song was a country and western song called My First Love Song by Luke Bryan.

Your personalized wedding favors are too cute. What’s in the small bags? We made our party favors and used cute little polka dot bags stuffed with cinnamon toast crunch, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. The tag read “Sending You Smore Love”. We also had packages of Hershey kisses with our names on the bottom. I am so intrigued by the large balloon type lanterns that were released when you left the reception. What are these? These are called *Wedding Wishing Lanterns and are a very cool looking effect. They look like mini hot air balloons when they are released. The idea is that best wishes are attached for the couple and released into the air and those wishes will come true for the couple. Keegan and I plan to do this on each anniversary. Lastly, looking back, do you have any other thoughts to share ? I wanted to keep the focus on Keegan and me. It was “our” day, not just “my” day. It was for both of us and it was perfect. *Looks we Love…Wedding Ideas loves the Wedding Wishing Lanterns. They are a traditional wedding custom from Thailand and symbolize the hopes, dreams and wishes for the couples new life together. The lanterns are biodegradable and nonflammable. The effect is stunning and adds a unique dimension to any special event that is sure to be remembered.

Hot pink and teal? Yes! Since both Diana and Luis are foreign and would have limited family attending, they chose to make their wedding a small, intimate wedding at a local vineyard. Diana decorated the altar with pink carnations and it couldn’t have been lovelier. What a gorgeous backdrop for photographs captured by Catie Bartlett‘s creative eye!

23

A Bride’s Guide www.okcweddingideas.com

The casual, rustic ambiance of the vineyard was exactly what Diana was looking for and incorporated the feel into her decorations. The use of burlap and raw wood made this country chic wedding very chic indeed.

Rebekah and Patrick became husband and wife in the company of good friends and family in a warm, intimate ceremony at Walnut Creek Wedding Chapel. Rebekah was a gorgeous, radiant bride as she walked down the aisle beneath the vaulted cathedral ceiling. With soft, dark curls framing her face, Rebekah presented a breathtaking picture in her strapless, ball gown wedding dress. Her handsome groom, in full dress Army uniform, stood waiting to become her husband.

For her color palette Rebekah chose her favorite color - red, accented with silver for sparkle. She wanted a romantic feel to the wedding and accomplished this with a profusion of roses, rose petals, the glow of abundant candles, babies breath, and silver accents. The color choice of red against white was truly a vivid and dramatic choice. Rebekah’s dad and brother had passed away and in remembrance of them and to have them close to her on this wonderful day, she attached special charms to her bouquet. Her sweet Mom did the honor of walking her down the aisle. Rebekah says, “walking down the aisle was like a dream. The doors opened and there was Patrick in his uniform. I was so proud and I was totally focused on him“.

Dancing their first dance to Elvis Presley’s I Can’t Help Falling in Love with You, the reception then proceeded into a fun filled evening with dancing and laughter. A+ Entertainment did an excellent job with the music and keeping the party lively. A photo booth was also an instant hit with their guests. Even though Rebekah and Patrick didn’t specifically have any Oklahoma touches in their wedding and reception, Mother Nature did intrude…she was not an invited guest…with quite an entrance! It thundered! It rained! It hailed tennis ball size hailstones! Many of the vehicles were pounded and the sound was deafening, though fortunately short. Rebekah says this was an Oklahoma “touch”, though not a welcome one! Rebekah recalls some of the best advice she was given was to “enjoy every minute of the wedding and reception because it goes by so fast. Months of planning and it’s over so quickly. Thank goodness for our fabulous photographer, Sherry Lynch - we are able to look back, enjoy and reminisce“.

Looks we Love… vivid red roses, red bridesmaid dresses, a groom serving in the armed forces…

WI sends best wishes and appreciation to Patrick as he serves our country.

WI Just Married Tips Candace and Gregory RealWedding.HerAdvice. When asked to offer tips for girls planning their weddings, I have some ideas to share that worked well for me. First of all, I would suggest making a list of “must haves” and concentrate on them. This will help keep you focused. Make some things yourself. This is a way for you to personalize your wedding and you will be pleased that you did. There are many tutorials available on the Internet and you can find instructions on just about anything you want to make. We made pomander balls, the favors, the flower girl baskets and designed our invitations, save the dates and programs. I suggest coming up with an actual theme rather than trying to incorporate every cute idea that you see. I went to several bridal shows, looked through magazines and searched online for ideas. I also got a lot of floral pamphlets and design books to help in my floral selections. Some of the best advice I was given? Accept help! Just take a deep breath and say “yes”. You’ll be glad you did! Be sure to find someone you can trust to be your sounding board. In my case it was my husband and my sister and mom. They let me vent and did their best to keep me happy. They were great and I appreciated them so much. I definitely recommend a cake tasting - it was one of the best things we did. We had a dream of a cake - a three tiered Italian cream cake. Delicious! The grooms cake was chocolate with a custom “G” logo for his first name. For Information on Advertising call 405.216.0747

54

We chose a venue that provided a coordinator which was one of the things that drew us to them. The coordinator was helpful and knowledgeable during the planning and she kept us on track by taking care of the bigger details giving us time to concentrate on the smaller details. We decided on a heavy appetizer menu- beef Wellington, chicken brochettes, fruit and cheese, loaded tater tots, crab cakes and mini pizza bites. We had a signature drink called a white grape champagne cocktail.

Our photographer was wonderful and took awesome photos, but don’t expect them to be a mind reader. Or, anyone else for that matter. Communicate! Our wedding was warm and romantic. Don’t lose sight of what you’re planning for. Life MUST go on after the wedding! Have a great wedding!
