Beauty Cover Feature Mom Stu Life - dealing with peoply people My best friend - OKdog 10 Things Snacident Ar cle Travel Bookaholic Entertainment Gaming & Gadgets

There will always be some embarrassing, confusing, “let's not talk about it” moments that we need help with and we want to be the team you turn to. We want to talk about fashion and beauty, the techy stuff and the games we never get to play, we even have our dear bookaholics covered.

It's just funny, we repeat that because it's what we are about, OKgrl Talk magazine is for any girl, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, crazy aunt, cousin and cousin twice removed, ok we'll stop, the point is that it's for anyone who just wants to laugh with a friend or at a friend, it really depends on how you look at it. Out of our own experiences we have found that we have had quite enough of the s gma a ached to women being funny, that only men are allowed to be comedic and that all the serious business is le for Mom's, Daughters, grandmothers and…we won't start again, but you get the point. We as a team, a crazy team, find women batshit funny (crazy too) and there is nothing anyone can do to change our minds about that. When you take a moment and reflect on the things we as women talk about, you'd be amazed at how funny we really are. We should no longer be bombarded with everything serious and being bored out of our minds. No ma er our age, we are funny AF. If you don't know what AF is, you should Google it and start using it. You're welcome.

We will of course deal with the two things we've probably googled most Fitness and Weight loss even though our main goal will always be to help you love and accept yourself for the amazing woman you see in the mirror. The journey we want to take you on isn't perfect, it's about non-conforming women sharing their own unique and funny perspec ves on all our different topics, we at OKgrl Talk magazine are not afraid to say what we think and we have all the una ainable quali es as a team to help you be successful in life. (Well we're pre y sure we have them) The reason behind OKgrl Talk magazine is about being your own star and having your own sparkle, no ma er the genera on you are from, no ma er if you use 1ply or 2ply, we will never judge you. We might offend some people on the way and you might think we are ridiculous in our content but we will show you how you can build confidence with humour and the laughter that comes with it. We basically have only one thing le to say, buckle up bu ercups, we are going for a ride.

We want you to read our magazine and not only have a so giggle, we want you to have that kind of laugh you can't help having, making the people around you stare at you, thinking where you went wrong but deep down inside you don't care because laughing is the best medicine. We want this magazine to make you feel empowered to be a woman, to make you feel like empowering other women. We want to help women understand women. Helping young girls learn from women who are more experienced in “adula ng” and vice versa, young girls can teach the more experienced women how to be less “Adulty”.

This is why we're honored to team up with CANSA to help them make a difference in The news, The fight and The rest of your life with a campaign close to our hearts. There are few things that can affect an en re family and support system quite like the news that your loved one has cancer, seeing the news bring them to their knees and then seeing the fight bring them to their feet because of the strength and courage they show to fight it.

We've watched our loved ones stand in the storm of cancer, we've felt the fears of standing in the storm ourselves, and we've quickly learned what the quote “You never know how strong you are un l being strong is the only choice you have.” truly means.

To show our daily support to those who are figh ng the ba le, those who have won the ba le, to support early detec on and create awareness, we've taken an unusual route by crea ng a Tshirt with a cut-out on the sleeve which shows that you have given a part of your shirt to CANSA.

There is nothing as beau ful as the sigh of relief when you or your loved one makes it out of the storm but on the other side of the spectrum there is nothing as heartbreaking as seeing someone take their last breath because the storm got the upper hand. o R

f you are anything like me, you are looking for any way to stay fit other than having to go to the same gym and do the same thing every day. This includes wai ng for a treadmill to open up or watching a muscle jock nicknamed “Beast” hog the circuit machine for 30 minutes, 15 of those minutes are spent admiring his buffness. I just made buffness a word. So we are taking on the task of finding new ways to stay fit in different ways, spend some days out of the gym, ge ng a deserved break from “Beast” and then sharing these experiences with you. You're welcome. The first thing that stole our a en on and hearts was hiking and boy was it worth every second of it. We found so many places that are a short drive away and inexpensive, some were even free. A er a li le while of googling, we found a place called Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve. Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve is situated in Alberton, only 10km from the centre of Joburg. It is said to be the largest nature reserve in Joburg, boas ng 700ha. in size and is habitat to some large game like zebras, red hartebeest and black wildebeest. The gates open at sunrise, close at sunset and the best part is, there is no entrance fee. We took on this hike known as the Jewel of the South and it was beau ful beyond anything we expected or could have imagined. As soon as we walked in if felt like we were a million miles from the hustle and bustle of the city. We received a map at the office and proceeded to follow the well-marked paths, there are a few trails you could follow but since we loved it so much we have gone back and done it a few 7 February 2020

mes to complete all of the trails. There were paths that had some intense inclines and then some that didn't require as much effort but no ma er which path you take, there are views that will take your breath away (there are also uphills that will take your breath away). The sights were magical, everything from the sunrise and tall grass to the sounds of the water in the small river you get to walk along. There were always friendly people passing by who greeted and seemed just as blissful as we felt.

This trip was a definite YES for us and we would recommend it to everyone and anyone as a way to get out of the gym and enjoy the nature on our doorstep.

Sanet, tell us how you felt about yourself before you had your makeover? I felt plain and dowdy, I did not feel good about my reflec on in the mirror…. Basically Ugh. What did you think of the hair changes that was made for your lifestyle that you are living? My hair change was a shock as I was used to a ponytail and fringe. A er my makeover my hair was cut much shorter with a very funky fringe that I did not think I will consider wearing but now I love the look and it is easy to maintain because I have curly hair.

I

can recall the 80's when women who were 56 were considered over the wall and old. That meant that you could no longer be trendy, and you had to make sure you were dressed the same as an 80-year-old woman. The beauty scene was only dominated by the 20 something', they ruled the do's and don't and they were the only ones who could share their favorite products and techniques. Now, the mes have changed. We are seeing more and more 56-year old's being more a en ve to how trendy they are, how much they evolve with fashion and beauty and how much they love being in front of the camera. Older women are now demanding the a en on that the fashion and beauty industry have denied them for way too long and 2020 is the year that we see the beginning of a young 50.

How do you feel about the make-up changes that were introduced to you? I am not fond of makeup but the sugges ons and subtle changes that were made, made me feel amazing without going overboard I s ll felt like me and felt like I looked the part I wanted to play in life. How did OKgrl Fashion help you with your wardrobe? I tend to wear the same style of clothing because I know what I feel comfortable in and prefer not to deviate from it. When I was dressed by OKgrl Fashion I was amazed at how comfortable I was and how easy it was to have a sense of sexiness. Most of all, I never once felt like someone was trying to change who I am and what I feel comfortable in.

The beauty of this is that being a young 50 is not about looking 20, it's all about you being proud of your own reflec on and being happy with what you see in yourself every day. Being a young 50 means finding new ways to keep up with the trends when it comes to your hair, makeup, fashion and daily life, ways that you are comfortable with because let's face fact, when you reach 50, you know exactly who you are and what you have me for. To prove how willing the young 50 year old's are we approached Sanet to give her a make over that made her feel a li le more life herself and not the exterior she was hiding behind, here's what she had to say a er the makeover. www.okgrl.co.za 12

1. What are your favorite accounts to follow on Instagram? My favorite accounts to follow are my close friends and anything on music, veterinary medicine or medical research 2. Who is your ul mate celebrity crush? My celebrity crush is Ian Somerhalder from The Vampire Diaries or VWars. He is such an inspira on because he is an environment and animal welfare ac vist. I am inspired because he uses his pla orm as a celebrity to create a posi ve impact on the environment and for our animals. 3. You are gorgeous, what are your favorite physical features? Thank you very much for the compliment. If I had to choose, I would say my eyes and my smile. 4. What do you think your best traits are? One of my best characteris cs, I would say, is that I try to be as kind and generous as possible with everyone and everything around me. I also try to treat people the way I would like to be treated. 5. What do you think your least favorite traits are? I have many flaws. I would have to point out that I have a zero tolerance for manipula on, lies, gossip and rudeness. I don't like people who like to break down what others try to build up. I wear my heart on my sleeve and people can immediately see if I'm upset.

6. What would you say to young girls struggling with their selfesteem? For young girls who struggle with a low self-esteem, I would say, I used to be one of them. If I can give them any advice it would be to stop le ng other people bring you down. You are worthy. You are unique. You deserve to do everything that makes you happy and at the end of the day that is all that ma ers. I would also tell them to stop trying to please everyone around you and start doing things for YOU. Nobody is perfect. Don't let people who have many faults of their own, only point out yours and make you feel guilty for them. Everyone has flaws and things that they do wrong, and that's okay, because we are all human. Don't be too hard on yourself. 7. What does the world need more of in your opinion? The world needs more kindness. It needs respect and generosity. I believe those fundamentals are crucial. 8. What does the world need less of in your opinion? The world needs less judgmental people. The world needs less people who think they are en tled.

11. If you had a choice between two superpowers, being invisible or flying, which would you choose? I would definitely choose to be invisible. I would love to eves drop on conversa ons when I'm not around. 12. If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why? Definitely a cat. Very ladylike. Very fussy. Very lazy (at mes) and very picky as to who I let in. They are also very sensi ve creatures and can feel the vibe and aura of people around them. I'm like that too. 13. If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fic onal, with whom would it be? I would love to trade places with a vampire, if they existed. The can compel, the are fast and very strong, all of their emo ons are heightened, but I think I might be biased because of my crush on celebrity Ian Somerhalder. 14. If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the tle would be? Chané Valen ne - the complicated but beau ful soul.

9. What is your favorite binge series? The Vampire Diaries 10. If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs—such as food and water—were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you? Two items that I will definitely take with will be lip ice (I can't survive without it) and my cellphone even though the ba ery might run out. www.okgrl.co.za 14

ene had tried to fall pregnant for 10 years, at the age of 43 her chances were becoming slim and her hopes were at an all- me low.

ow women have become the funny ones. We have recently started paying more a en on to the change in the world with regards to women being funny. This used to be something that you wouldn't see every day, it wasn't something that women would embrace, not alone or in front of other people, regardless if they were men or women. This dynamic was and is s ll old fashioned in some places but there has been what seems like a sudden change of pace with regards to this…women have become the funny ones. When I started thinking about this, I took to the internet and started to Google some quotes that were made by funny women, famous or not, “I am constantly amazed by Tina Fey and I am Tina Fey” – Tina Fey “My therapist was like 'what brings joy to your heart?'and I was like 'I like to see teeth' I guess I should have become a den st.” - Tiffany Haddish

These quotes reminded me and showed me that women are truly hilarious when we get out of our heads, when we stop living life by the book and when we stop doing only what we are supposed to do. I have personally experienced this on a trip with some people who shall not be named. We were all over 40 at this stage and it was definitely not apparent to anyone that night. A er a day of doing travelly things we all went back to our hotel rooms, we le our doors open like typical girls so that the cha ng could con nue, the cha ng lead to us becoming giggly and once the giggles hit us, it was game over for the part of our brains that do the over thinking. What do you do when you stop over thinking? You streak! This is what we done, streaking up and down the hotel passage in front of our rooms accompanied by what I could only describe as true laughter. This laughter lead us to not quite care anymore and so we con nued our inappropriate but funny behaviour.

“I'm always nkering with something – Suddenly I'll One of said people who shall not be named then think I can work with wood, but then I realize I can't, so I go back to sewing which I can't either” - proceeded to get locked out of her own room, standing in the passage wearing nothing but her Melissa McCarthy underwear and a sheet that made her look like she “Never follow anyone else's path, unless you're in was ready to step on stage as Cleopatra. Soon she the woods and you're lost and you see a path. was trying to explain to the hotel manager that she Then by all means follow that path” – Ellen got locked out of her room but these sentences did not come out fluently through her own “When in doubt, pull funny faces” Amy Poehler laughter and the sounds of ours. “Its work having a vagina. Guys don't think its work but it is. You think it shows up like that to the This is a me in my life that I will never forget event? It doesn't. Every night it's like it's ge ng because that memory is not about the streaking, ready for its first Quinceanera, believe me” – Amy it's not about the trouble we got into but rather Schumer about the laughter, that true feeling of laughing with every single bit of yourself. The memories that mean the most are always the . ones that make you laugh.

t doesn't take much to find a page on Facebook or Instagram that shares the joys of animals and how they can be the greatest source of laughter and smiles but every now and then you stumble across a page or a person pos ng about their dog that is special, one that makes your heart warm without any effort at all. My current source of laughter, feeling of home and warmth comes from a very cute dog named Tucker. Tucker is a social media sensa on that makes the news in the US quite o en. The 1 year old Golden Retriever has a personality of his own and his mom, Courtney Budzyn (Known as Linda to Tucker) has found a way to make it come to life by adding words to his most adorable facial expressions.

Tucker is currently in training to become a therapy dog to help others who suffer just like Courtney does and there is no doubt in the world that he would be able to cheer anyone up with his squishy face, his dislike for things that make a snappy noise and his urge to roll in the dirt a er a bath. There is only one thing he loves more than chicken and his poop toy and that's Courtney. His best friend.

Even though Tucker is super cute and has the squishiest face you could possibly imagine, he is more than just the silly one in the house. Courtney is quite open about the ba le she is figh ng with her health and her struggles with anxiety, which I find is an example that more of the women in the world should follow. This is where Tucker comes in, o en on their pages Courtney will post Tucker's reac on to her panic a acks or when she is feeling sick, these reac ons always involve the gentlest dog you could imagine.

hen we moved out of the comfort of our childhood homes we had no idea that being an adult would change our favourite childhood memories into something as amazing as not paying bills, but a er taking the brave leap we quickly figured out that other than paying bills, adulthood is mostly about Googling how to do stuff and wondering how you hurt your back.

3. Parking

7. Balcony Outlet

Yes yes, we thought the same thing, we need two parking spots because we have two cars. What we didn't think about is how far that parking is from our apartment and that doesn't ma er when you are carrying your lunch bag, it does ma er when you have 25 grocery bags to carry from your monthly shopping and you refuse to walk twice because we'll just forget how we hurt our backs later anyway.

Now this one is a doozy, we were adul ng outside, feeling like we have our shit together by cleaning the balcony. We dumped an en re bucket of soapy water on the balcony floor, scrubbed the floor and then watched the water go nowhere slowly for a few minutes. We found a water outlet the size of a pea and proceeded to watch 5 episodes of Chicago fire wondering why our backs hurt, wai ng for the water to run out (into our downstairs neighbour's garden, another story for another day)

4. Grou ng

What we wish more than anything is that someone gave us the knowledge of what to look out for when we got our first apartment….ok second apartment too. So because we are nice people and we care about you, here are the 10 things we wish we looked out for when going apartment hun ng:

Now this is more of an OCD thing, when you lay in the bath that took 3 years to run, you seem to no ce things, things like missing grou ng from les. I'm not ler but the amount of missing grou ng has tempted me to become one more than once.

1. Lights

5. Upstairs Neighbours

Right now you are frowning, thinking I am pre y sure I'm smart enough to check if there are lights. Well we were smart enough to do that as well, what we didn't check is how bright they are. Our first night in our brand new place we switched the lights on so that we could con nue unpacking, it was like we were unpacking in the dark, the lights were barely bright enough to create a shadow.

This one is a given, you don't want loud people living above you, they weren't loud, they were a lovely newlywed couple that made us excited to move into the complex. I'm going to let it sink in for a second. We all know what newlyweds are all about. 3 words. Birds and Bees.

2. Water Pressure Now this is something we all take for granted, we having been living in our apartment for 3 years and I am s ll wai ng for my first bath to run. I know eventually it's going to be the best bath ever.

6. Kitchen sink WHY? JUST WHY? Who in their right mind ever thinks just a single sink is enough? Always go double! Enough said.

8. DIY Space This one is really important because it is inevitable that you will fall into the Pinterest trap and try to DIY everything. So make sure you have enough space to do these tasks because you will become a version of yourself that you do not have control over.

9. One Bathroom Problems If you are anything like us that are best friends that became sisters living together, you will quickly lose some boundaries that you cannot unsee, we know that we can't all afford 2 bathroom places so our advice, make sure the toilet is a safe distance from the bath for when nature calls and believe us, nature will call.

10. Entertainment Now if you are like us, you have a birthday and you love said birthday, heck you love it so much that you have your family over but consider the size of your family vs the size of your place or it will feel more like a hospital visit – they only allow two people at a me. www.okgrl.co.za 22

Now don't call us enablers but we feel like snaccidents should be taken more seriously and be a lot more adventurous, that's why we decided to give you a peek at our latest snaccident of choice.

rom the Empire State Building to the Statue of Liberty to central park to nigh me ferries and hot hotdog stands, New York has it all and more. If you have never been to the Big Apple, trying to figure out how to do it on a budget and in a short period of me can be the most overwhelming part of your trip. So, to help you out, here are a few of our ps to help you plan the most epic trip to one of the most epic ci es.

When going to NYC there are plenty of places you can stop over at to eat but most days we opted for the true New Yorker experience by grabbing a New York style hotdog or pretzel at food carts that are all over the city, this allowed us to eat on the go and see more of the city. One of my favorite hotdog experiences was one that we bought right behind ground zero, it was a very special moment to sit down and take in the emo ons that fill the air.

Warning, you should prepare yourself for li le to no sleep since the tours you can take are available un l 1am in the mornings, this is why we suggest that you don't splurge on fancy and expensive hotels because you will only be sleeping in them. So look out for a hotel with Bunk beds if you are going with a friend, one bedrooms with shared bathrooms, these are quick and easy and we've always found them to be safe and clean.

There is no way that you can even begin to see all of NYC, not unless you live there for a few months, don't let the size of the island fool you, there are thousands of restaurants, hundreds of museums and iconic sites but if we had to choose, you can't miss a trip up the empire state building for a breath taking view of central park and the city, once you have been up there it won't take much convincing to go see the 843 acres of garden in person by taking a walk down The Mall. Of course, you can't dare to miss seeing ground zero, this is a goosebumps en cing experience. Next, a trip down to Times Square where you truly see why they say it's the city that never sleeps. To finish it off and put the cherry on top of an awe-inspiring city, make sure you take the harbor tour, seeing the hustle and bustle of NYC from the outside will end your trip with nothing but beauty. www.okgrl.co.za 26

his book made me realize why it's so hard to stay away from Sophie Kinsella's books, it took 2 pages and I was hooked. It was over-the-top in an absolutely perfect and hilarious way that made reading it so much fun.

If you want some belly laughs following the store of a 1920s-era ghost with her great-grand-niece in England, you won't be disappointed in this book, but be prepared to find yourself figh ng back tears as you watch the rela onship blossom and witness how everyone learns a li le more about being true to themselves.

Having a second heroine made the plot more complex than most of the “happilyever-a er” books I have come to love from Sophie Kinsella, although there was a good romance in this book, it wasn't the main focus, instead this novel put most of its emphasis on family and friendship which made it a breath of fresh air.

Overall, I think this is a must read for anyone who is in need of the kind of laugh that makes the world a be er place, this is why I gave this book a 5 star ra ng.

The main characters, Lara and Sadie gave me proper belly aching laughs page a er page, from the unbelievably stupid things Sadie makes Lara do, to their wisecracks, there was nothing other than an earthquake that could get me to put the book down.

Lara has always had an overac ve imagina on. Now she wonders if she is losing her mind. Normal twenty-something girls just don’t get visited by ghosts! But inexplicably, the spirit of Lara’s great aunt Sadie – in the form of a bold, demanding Charleston-dancing girl – has appeared to make one last request: Lara must track down a missing necklace Sadie simply can’t rest without. Lara’s got enough problems of her own. Her start-up company is floundering, her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, and she’s just been dumped by the love of her life. But as Lara spends me with Sadie, life becomes more glamorous and their treasure hunt turns into something intriguing and roman c. Could Sadie’s ghost be the answer to Lara’s problems and can two girls from different mes end up learning something special from each other?

some karate moves ready – I mean boundaries, right? Elizca: I definitely take it as a compliment, but the ladies out there must know that he comes home to me! Hehe! It is actually quite sweet to see how the women find him a rac ve, it just validates the truth. I am very proud to be on his arm but mainly because he is a gentleman through and through.

K

yle Grand Whiteside from the late Adam band has been mel ng hearts for years, hís heart however belongs to Elizca Coetzer – Whiteside (Sorry ladies!) Okgrl decided to pay them a visit to find out why this couple embodies the hashtag… #couplegoals! The first me I met Kyle was backstage at a beat thumping Weiveld with Adam Bands' release for their new album. As Kyle and his fellow band members Reynardt Hugo, Hugo Ludik and I were cha ng. I couldn't help but snoop! “Are any of you in a serious rela onship?” Immediately both Reynardt and Hugo turned to Kyle “ Ohhhh… That's Kyle and Liz! They're thát couple!

4.

For your enjoyment we asked Mr and Mrs Whiteside to answer a few ques ons in their very own words. 1. The Grant Marriage as the #couplegoals wri en all over it! How does it feel to be that couple? Kyle: Firstly, wow, thank you It's nice to know that being our silly selves can inspire others to fall in love. Elizca: We are not your typical couple. We both have our quirks. We don't take life too seriously. But we are each other's be er halves. 2. Where did it all start? Kyle: We met in the South African premiere of the musical “Hairspray” at Gold Reef City in 2007. We were cast as the two lead lovers by the team from Broadway in New York. Elizca: It was love at first sight! 3.

Elizca, your hubby has quite the (thousands) of female fans…Do you see it as a compliment or do you have

5.

(Talking about boundaries hehe!) Kyle Obviously Elizca is gorgeous- but what's her most beau ful physical feature to you? Kyle: Apart from her perfect smile, perfect boobies and perfect legs she is a complete clown! So when we get older and all these things start to fade (or droop! LOL!)I know we'll always have a good laugh together. I believe our humour and sense of fun is the reason we have made it through all the hurdles we have had to face up un l now. Elizca, what is the most annoying thing that Kyle does? Elizca: When he takes off his clothes and shoes he doesn't hang them up or pack them away. He just throws it on the floor and I always end up packing it away for him. (Oh - We Feel you Elizca!)

6.

Elizca collaborated with you on Adam bands' last album… Is collabora on something we can look forward to? Kyle: Defini vely yeah. We plan to do a show together next year and record a few more duets.

7.

Would you rather Game: Would you rather stop using the internet or deodorant? Kyle: Deodorant Elizca: The internet

Would you rather be the funniest person Alive or the most a rac ve? Kyle: The funniest Elizca: The funniest Would you rather have a completely automated home or a self-driving car? Kyle: A self-driving car so I can close my eyes when I listen to my “langpad” music! Elizca: A completely automated home thank you please! 8. Finally… if you're life had to be a reality show… what would it be called? Elizca: He calls me “Tie es” and I call him “Barty”. (Long story. Lol!) So our show would definitely be called “The Tie es and Barty Party”! Hahaha! Kyle: I concur! Now that's a show we would LOVE to watch! Follow them on Instagram @kyle_grant_sa & @elizca_coetzer . OKgrl wishes you everything wonderful in your silly honest life together!

Oh Hollywood – the never ending drama and trends that escape you! Here's what you need to know to be rela vely fluent in

Award winning director Lana del Ray followed Tay for what seems to be close to two years, capturing swi s ever evolving public persona. Miss Americana premiered at the Sundance fes val and is currently on Ne lix. Selena Gomez Talk about the #squad making headlines! Selina is back in the limelight a er four years between studio albums. It has been an extremely even ul few years for Gomez who ba led Lupus, depression, anxiety and went through two high profile breakups.

Taylor swi If you are a swi y you will know all about Miss Americana. No? Let's educate you! TayTay's 2019 cri cally acclaimed album Lover was received with praise and Nextlevel fan worship. Miss Americana was a tract off the album that definitely stood out, mainly because most of the songs were wri en from the smi en pen of Taylor who is obviously in love with her ul mate man – London boy – Joe Alwyn. Miss Americana was a lyrical metaphor of her poli cal views and opinions and thus became the tle of Taylors first documentary.

Working through All these hardships- like our fav Hollywood na ves do, she did so crea vely and became the fuel behind her new No.1 Billboard 200 albums chart album. Selina had the name of her new album Rare ta ooed on her neck. When her new ink was ques oned in an interview Selinas' answer reflects just how much she has grown as a woman “The word has meant so much more to me than just a tle of a song. We live in a me where everything is based on your looks and social media and there are so many different channels telling people what they should look like. And I want to represent a person that is just saying "You are who are; you're unique and you're rare." – Preach Selina ! ur rela onship with gaming is changing and here's why. It's a very stereotypical thing to assume that gaming is just for men, we're not all about ge ng our hair and nails done and we are far more than just candy crush fans. Let's have a quick look at how big this industry really is right now and how big of a part we play in this it. The Gaming industry generated almost $135 billion in 2018. Now let me use my super human abili es to look into the future, just kidding, I did my research. The industry is said to be worth $180.1 billion by 2021. To give you some perspec ve, the global film industry (including box office movies) was worth $136 billion in 2018. That means that these two industries are neck and neck. Now I know what you are thinking, 90% of those big numbers are the males in your life that spent their money on games instead of date night but I am here to tell you that you are so wrong. In the USA the numbers are becoming more equal in the demographics of Male vs Female gamers.

The very essence of a game being only for a male makes as much sense as a mall being only for females. Gaming is not just a man's world, let me tell you about 2 women who agree with me. tiffyquake

Her gamer name is iHasCupQuake, Tiffany has over 1.2 million followers on Instagram, 6.6 million subscribers on YouTube and has had over 2 Billion views on her content. She is a fun, exci ng, colourful gamer and her Instagram shows exactly that. She excels in everything from World of War cra to Minecra .

Known in the gamer world as SSSniperwolf, a fashionable and trendy badass with over 4.3 million followers on Instagram and 16.5 million subscribers on YouTube. Lia is known to shoot everything she can possibly shoot from her sniping ability in Fortnite to her insane skills in Call of Duty. These woman are on two very different spectrums of the female world as well as the gaming world but they are proof that women should give up the stereotype that gaming is only for men and give in to what is one of the biggest and most fun industries in the world. www.okgrl.co.za 34
