Fishing Report Lake Okeechobee Brought to you by
Warm weather and great fishing; does it get any better? One of the warmest winters ever is turning into an incredible spring. Bass fishing is good day-in and day-out. Very shortly the anglers from the BASS Elite tour will be coming to town for their practice. The tournament will launch out of Scott Driver Park daily with many other festivities planned in conjunction with the event. Spinner baits, speed worms, flukes, 10-inch warms and top water baits have all worked for us in the

last week. Many of the larger bass that are being caught on artificial baits are falling prey to a flipping or pitching technique in the heavy cover. An ugly otter, paca craw, sweet beaver or a flipping tube will all draw strikes. Shell cracker have been showing up on the outside edges of the cover and along the edges of the boat trails. Several anglers have reported catching them, but they are finding them along the outside edges of cover. The new moon will drive many pan fish onto the beds to spawn. Grass shrimp, red worms and crickets will be the primary baits, with one bait outperforming the others at times, so try them all.
