WINE & FOOD STUDIES CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS – Other locations Okanagan College is located in the heart of wine country in the beautiful Okanagan Valley – the perfect place to learn what it takes to grow the best grapes and produce, and to sell and enjoy the best wines. Our graduates have gone on to become award-winning winemakers and vineyard managers in Canada and around the world. Today, our alumni can be found in many of the province’s bustling vineyards and wineries. We believe learning should be hands-on and that is why we connect you with what is really happening in the wine industry. Our programs are taught by experienced professionals and include field trips, guest speakers and a work experience placement.

Gain the skills and knowledge essential to farm a vineyard. Through this program you will learn the scientific principles underlying grape growing for the purpose of wine production, the various influences on grape quality and industry terminology. In addition, you will learn vineyard management, vineyard equipment operation, maintenance and safety.

Wine Sales Certificate Are you dreaming of a job in wine marketing, wine touring or in a wine shop? Gain the knowledge and skills you need to work in the exciting sales side of the wine industry. Begin with the basics of grape growing and winemaking before moving onto legal regulations, industry standards, marketing and sales strategies, and knowledge of wine shop management and winery promotions. This program includes online learning options, so you can access this valuable wine sales training anywhere, anytime.

Winery Assistant Certificate Gain the knowledge and skills needed to work alongside the many master winemakers in our region as an assistant winemaker, cellar hand or winery owner. Learn the scientific principles underlying grape and wine production, influences on wine quality, industry terminology, winery equipment operation and maintenance, harvest and crush, sanitation and safety, wine sensory evaluation, and marketing and sales practices.
