I never was really connected/ involved with the school. I never did any after school activities, and I wasn’t into any sports or clubs. Journalism was a way for me to connect and be involved with our school. As this Portfolio is the things ive done over the course of the year in jounralism
My goal was to feel more involved and be connected to the school. I felt that with my time in journalism I would get to know the school a litle better, so I set a goal in here to become more connected with staff memebers and teachers by the end of the year. Along with knowing where if not all but most of the classes are, and who the teachers are. Journalism helped me achieve my goals and increase my love of photography and designing
As my first year in journalism, I shared the responsibility to create spreads and work with Academics and Student Life. I got the opportunity to take pictures of different academic classes (science, avid, band...etc) and also events that went on in a students life at school (bonfire/pep rally, homecoming.. etc). I also got the chance to know what some of the academics were all about, and what the purpose of that academic was.
My knowledge about the things that are done in journalism has grown over the past year. Like how hard to have to work in here, and all the dedication it takes to get the job done. Also, I learned how to work with others in the class to become a team to get through the year and finish the yearbook. I now know the process, time, and how much hard work is put into the journalism class. I also know many things about InDesign.
The proud moment I had was when I was starting to write my stories correctly and was able to become a better photographer. I was provided with a camera to take home and take pictures and experiment with the settings to become familiar and comfortable with the camera.
