We were all deeply sorrowed to hear of the untimely passing of Cantor Reuven Blum, who lead our High Holiday services beautifully for nearly a decade. The Blum family has long supported a charity that provided food for Shabbat for those in need in Queens, called "Chickens for Shabbos". If you would like to make a contribution in memory of Cantor Blum, checks can be made with that earmark to the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills,150-05 70th Road Flushing, NY 11367 or to the Rabbi's Charity fund earmarked.

We were all horrified to hear of the brutal and cowardly murder of five members of the Fogel family, including a three month old baby, as they slept in their homes Friday night in Itamar Israel. Ohav Sholom joins the Orthodox Union in collecting funds to support the three orphans of the Fogel family. You may donate online at http://www.ou.org/terrorfund or bring checks in to the Rabbi's charity fund earmarked Israel Terror Victims. May G-d be our shadow (Psalm 130) and grant benevolence and healing to the victims. KIDDUSH SPONSORED THIS WEEK BY: Sisterhood Sisterhood participated in the BUYCOTT on March 30, 2011! OHAV SHOLOM HEBREW SCHOOL OPEN HOUSE Sunday April 3rd starting at 9:15 AM, showcasing Ohav Sholom’s Hebrew school, teachers, and the students under the leadership of Dr. Mel Isaacs. If you know a family who is interested in enrolling in our school, please invite them to come. While we advertise, many of our students come through the recommendation of our members. Over the past 4 decades hundreds of students graduated and went on to do many things, but they always remember their day at the Hebrew school as one of the key Jewish experiences. While the school doesn't require the students and their family to members at Ohav Sholom, over 95% of the families are. In addition the families play a major role at Ohav. To help with the cost of the tuition and/or membership, the executive board is having a special a due promotion:
First year free membership or 50% discount on your membership and free Hebrew school. Second year: 50 of synagogue dues or full dues and 50% off Hebrew school tuition.
