DOMUS competition PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE:

Multi-purpose skyscraper New York, USA May, 2018

01 If not a shelter, what else a symbolic home may be? Thus, we turn the highest part of the tower into a hostel and a homeless shelter. The lower part of the tower - which is connected to the street - is inspired by the infamous New York scaffoldings. This is a symbol of temporary and volatile nature of the city. Scaffoldings also form a transparent and welcoming entrance and serve as a promenade. Â Generally, the tower is divided into five parts. The parts are rotated relative to one another to provide the variety of views. Conjunctive levels form green recreations and lobbies, including outdoor playgrounds for child-care facilities.

Though being one of the world’s most successful and sought-after cities, New York possesses an ambivalent nature. The city is a source of innovation, growth and cultural vibrancy - the most ‘superstar city’ one can imagine. NYC is both a land of opportunity for social mobility and a highly segregated and unequal place.

During recent decades, Manhattan districts have undergone massive transformation. In Hell’s kitchen, the process is still on the run, thus its new entity is still undefined. The district is believed to be among the last places in the city to represent the iconic New York spirit. A genuine, unique and energetic - yet, a bit gritty - place where spontaneous creativity is welcomed. A place where people of all backgrounds can mix.

Hell’s kitchen has the reputation of one of the most eclectic Manhattan districts, thus - it really has the lot to lose. Overdevelopment has resulted in the borough becoming more homogenized and less diverse and spontaneous. Local neighbourhoods feel endangered by the prospect of becoming a new ‘luxury ghetto’, following the example of other districts in the area. Local business, middle class and creative locals are mainly forced out by rising rents.

To support the atmosphere of a place where everyone is welcomed, our key concept revolves around the idea of home. The building is a sort of a lighthouse to attract and welcome everyone willing to come.

CENTER OF ALPINISM PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE:

Centre of Alpinism Kazan, Tatarstan RU Dec, 2015

02 The main purpose of Kazan Alpinisim’s Center is to serve the surrounding neighbourhoods, thus it was extremely important to design it as a multi-functional and friendly place. The typical image of traditional sports architecture is abandoned, in place for an activity space full of energy during or after sports events, both day and night. The intent of the architecture is to create a community space for activity, one that enlivens its immediate vicinities.

NEW BLOCK OF BANK PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE:

Multi-purpose office Moscow, RU Jan, 2019

03 The building consists of two non-height spaces forming an indoor covered atrium space. The complex of geometry is an image of a split rock. The space between the two outer broken lines continued inside and was reflected in the interior of the atrium. The facade materials are based on conceptual forms: private glazing and solid glazing of the atrium. This design is also supplemented with functional sound performances that perform the functions of additional associations along the vertical of public greened sides of space. This is a positive defense and visually favorable layer.

BLOCK OF MEDICAL DIAGNOSTIC PROJECT: LOCATION: DATE:

Corps of Medical Dignostic Kazan, Tatarstan RU Mar, 2016

04 Medical buildings are usually perceived as spaces with negative connotations, specifically when referring to rehabilitation centers where patients stay for long periods of time. Therefore, in the design process, our aim was to change this perception and to build a positive space, one that is able to act as a hub for social activity, rather than just a medical center. At this point, the first element to consider was the exterior of the building (including the volume and its materiality) as it is the first connection point between the patient, medical center and the environment. Instead of treating the general volume as a mere container of functions, I developed a proposal that is formally similar to one of social and cultural infrastructure. A soft volume that contains eight large openings in the plan, these invite access to the building and suggests to the visitor what they will find inside. The building provides the necessary protection for the harsh weather of Russia and ensures a highly sustainable performance with low maintenance.
