Education and Assessment Graduate Assistant Research and Communications, Oglesby Union Division of Student Affairs, Florida State University The Education and Assessment graduate assistant is expected to promote a positive image of the Oglesby Union and the Division of Student Affairs within the University community and outside of the University. The graduate assistant will have regular interaction with many constituent groups of the University to include, senior student affairs administrators, Oglesby Union administrators, staff and students. Duties An essential function of this position is to assist the Associate Director and Education & Assessment Coordinator with the assessments and the planning and implementation of student/staff training and development. Assist the Education & Assessment Coordinator in survey development, administration and evaluations. Use data collected from surveys and evaluations to effectively evaluate and recommend improvements for Union programs and services. Take the lead in organizing all aspects of the monthly student staff trainings as well as provide assistance in the implementation of the monthly Café Conversation professional development series. Other duties include planning and coordinating special projects such as annual banquets, being a liaison for the Oglesby Union on campus committee’s memberships and assisting interdepartmental events and programs. Supervise and create schedules for research assistant. Position responsibilities include: 1. Coordinate assessment plan/calendar 2. Supervise research assistants 3. Plan, coordinate and assess professional staff development programs i.e. Café Conversation 4. Plan, coordinate and assess student staff employee professional development programs i.e. New Employee Orientation and Student Staff Trainings 5. Administration of EBI Survey 6. Analyze wireless traffic counter reports 7. Assess and analyze the programs and services within the Oglesby Union, Student Life Center and Flying High Circus i.e. Union Snapshots 8. Assess and analyze Parents’ and Family Weekends 9. Develop, administer and analyze online surveys for union departments 10. Plan and coordinate the Union Appreciation Banquet 11. Serve on Union/University committee as designated 12. Attend weekly Union Huddle meetings 13. Various duties as assigned

Stipend and Tuition Waiver The union covers costs for you up to 9 hours of fees during fall and spring semesters and up to 6 hours of coursework in summer term. In addition to a tuition waiver, the Union provides a modest stipend and professional development and travel assistance. In turn, the student will have a weekly work commitment of 20 hours. Requirements  Bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in a graduate program (masters or doctoral) at Florida State (i.e. Higher Education, Business, etc.)  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing  Ability to receive and follow instructions related to assigned programs and activities  Ability to relate well to others, especially students and student groups  Ability to work independently as well as under close supervision  Skilled in the use of computers and appropriate software i.e. Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Prezi  Experience in program planning and evaluation desirable  Experience with SPSS is preferred
