Undergraduate and Honours students were invited to submit essays for a competition sponsored by SIDA. The essays by the prize winner and runner-up were published in the journal along with two other essays by an MMus and PhD student. The editorial committee of JMAA decided to continue with this practice as a form of capacity building for budding scholars from the entire African continent. The closing date for submissions is 30 April 2005. Please find attached the requirements for this competition. The editors would appreciate it if you could encourage your students to take part in the competition, and to publicise it as widely as possible. Please do not hesitate to contact me for further information. Regards
