REVIEW FLORAL BY LIMA

Floral by Lima - a taste of Peru in London. The younger sibling of Lima (Fitzrovia), Floral is the second creation of world-renowned Peruvian chef, Virgilio Martinez and his partners, Gabriel & José-Luis Gonzalez, in London. Located in Covent Garden’s delightful Floral Street, aptly-named Floral by Lima offers modern Peruvian dining in a colourful, energetic yet relaxed environment. On arrival, head downstairs to the Lost Alpaca bar for a pre-dinner cocktail. The bar has a grungy, quirky vibe with walls stripped back to brick, decorated with phrases such as ‘no me sigas estoy perdido’ which roughly translates as ‘do not follow me, I am lost’. The bold and brilliant cocktails add fun bursts of colour around the room but the top pick must be the classic Peruvian cocktail – a Pisco Sour. Heading upstairs for dinner – the menu boasts a variety of contemporary Peruvian delights. Recommendations are one

of the two ‘Lima Recommends’ options – the Lima Menu or the Cuzco Menu – both encompassing an indulgent eight dishes from the main menu, giving you a true taste of Floral by Lima’s offering. The Tuna Ceviche with yellow tiger’s milk, sweet potato and seasonal fruit - a beautifully colourful dish with an abundance of flavour and textures - the richly marinated tuna masterfully complemented by perfectly softened sweet potato. For dessert, try ther Alfajor. These are delicate South American cookies, held together with dulce de leche, a creamy caramel confection. Delicious and rich and incredibly indulgent – anyone with a sweet tooth will delight in this dessert. Floral by Lima is a fun, modern and colourful take on Peruvian cuisine and is certainly one to add to your ‘must visit’ list.
