VOLUNTEER PROFIL Name: Age: Country:

Cristina Martinez Collado 31 years Spain

Why did you choose to volunteer with OFD?

I was interested in volunteering with children from different nationalities and I liked that the project looked well organised

I have learned...

that the migrant children we work with are really independent, mature and self confident. I also learned how even the youngest children don´t feel there is a diference between race, skin colour or origin.

What was the most memorable moment so far?

The last day we did had group games, and after that we started to give them the diplomas for participating in the Summer Camp. We were all seated on the stairs and it was very nice to see how the majority of them were really nervous and excited to hear their name and go up and take their diploma.

What would you say to a potential volunteer to convince them to join us?

It´s an unforgettable experience and very enriching on all levels. I think in several cases volunteers enjoy it more than children, as in those two weeks volunteers become children again through their smiles.
