Temco® Integrated Bearings – a compact and energy saving concept Hammelburg, September 22, 2011 – Integrated bearings are designed for high profits at highest requirements regarding revs, temperature, load and installation space. The concept of Temco® Integrated Bearings is based on 30 years of experience in bearing technology for demanding and sophisticated applications. What are integrated bearings? The integration of the internal raceway in the shaft and the external raceway in the bearing housing mean decisive advantages. This concept results in an extremely compact and stable bearing construction. Another benefit of the integrated bearing are the possible energy savings. The compact design accomplishes a low starting torque and smooth running. e-save = energy efficient solutions The compact design of integrated bearings results in lower friction moments and substantial energy savings at comparable shaft diameter and load rating. Compared to standard products it enables the Temco® VR2158-N separator roller of the 21 series energy reductions of up to 60%. Annual savings from 40-60 kWh per machine or 4-6 € per roller base on the following parameters: production speed 1.500 m/min, force 40 N and energy costs 0.10 € /kWh Conventional vs. integrated bearing It is common practice to use conventional bearings, positioned between the shaft and the bearing housing. The conventional bearings, always a technical compromise, are limited in use by running speed, life time and starting torque. On the other hand the concept of integrated bearings has technical and economical advantages not to be dismissed: • clearly higher load rating and therefore improved lifespan with the same dimensions and also smaller dimensions with the same load rating • the pre-finished solutions reduce installation outlays and installation errors • higher limiting speeds compared to standard roller bearings • high grease reservoir for life time lubrication • substantial reduction of maintenance work and machine downtimes • low cost overall solution • reduced investing costs Oerlikon Textile Components Bleikenstrasse 11 9630 Wattwil Switzerland

Design configuration expertise The construction of the shaft bearing system is optimised during the configuration with the help of the 'finite element calculation method' (FEM). This in cooperation with technical universities on continual basis optimised calculation software allows the exact determination of loads, critical torque, temperature development and their disbursement. These influencing factors will be adapted to the customer’s requirements through changes to the configuration where necessary. Integrated bearings are adapted exactly to the customer's application for technically and commercially optimal solutions.
