the column BY FRANKIE C

Do you like the change in the music industry? Well, with technology, the business has had to move faster than it used to. I don’t know if that’s good or bad really? What was it like recording, “I Like It Loud” with Bill Hamel? It happened in a very natural and organic way. I wasn’t necessarily looking to do music at this point, but after hearing the track that Bill produced, it just felt right and I had to go for it.

Going one on one with Carmen Electra was an enjoyable moment. She is sexy, sweet and the Gay community loves her… and she definitely loves them back. Her new single , “I Like It Loud”, is filled with words that we can all relate to, along with a bass beat that will allow the Gays to move with a fierce attitude and the straights to do some fistpumping action. The song is hot…just like the artist! Who influenced your musical interests, and how old were you? I was surrounded by music from an early age since my father was a musician and music was very influential in our household. What motivates you musically? Growing up as a dancer, music was always my inspiration to move and express myself. What was it like to have your first album produced by Prince, and to open up for him on the “Diamonds and Pearls” tour? I am so grateful to have had such an amazing learning experience that served as the foundation for my work ethic. That was 20 years ago. How have you grown since as an artist? So much of life is discovering who you are based on the variety of experiences you have. Interestingly enough, life has a tendency to come full circle. So what I’ve tried to do is learn as much as I can and grow as a person. odysseymagazine.net • JAnuary 9–22, 2013

How did you link up with Citrusonic Recordings? We linked up through a mutual friend; I fell in love with Orlando Puerta’s vision, and it was a natural fit. I feel like he really gets me. Are you happy to be returning to your roots? Absolutely, nothing should ever stop you from following your heart and doing what you love to do. The song is a catchy upbeat dance track. Did you write it? No, it was written by Bill Hamel and Britt Daley. How many remixes are there of “I Like It Loud”? Over the holiday, Orlando and I sat down and listened to the remixes. So far, we’ve found 6 that we love by Hector Fonseca, Sir Paul, +36, Illskillz, Jeremus, and there are others. How’s the response been since the dropping of “I Like It Loud” on November 13th, 2012? It’s been very positive. The energy has been very good out there, and I’m having fun.

Loud”, and Wendy Williams was so cool to let us premiere it on her show. How was it working with Simon Cowell on Britain’s Got Talent? I feel very grateful for the opportunity. We had a blast. Do you think American Idol, X Factor and The Voice have changed the way a vocalist looks at a career in the music industry? I think it has opened the door to more opportunities for extraordinary talent that may have never been discovered otherwise. When will the album be out? This year, but we are releasing more singles first. What do you want our readers to know about Carmen Electra? As much as I love the glamorous side of Hollywood, I’ll always stay grounded and never forget where I came from. How can our readers keep connected with Carmen Electra? On Facebook, tweet me @ carmenelectra, my website carmenelectra.com, and on Instagram, of course Where can “I Like It Loud” be purchased? iTunes, Amazon, Beatport, everywhere!! Love, Hugs and Kisses, and remember, “I Like It Loud” ! Frankie C. email me at: thecolumnbyfrankiec@gmail.com follow me on twitter: @FrankieC_

On December 7th, 2012 you were on the Wendy Williams show. Tell us what you enjoyed most about the show? It was our first time performing my single, “I Like It

wigs the wonderful world of

BY SHERRY VINE

I just returned from an exciting week in Germany! I LOVE performing in Berlin. They can be the best audience anywhere - they really let you know if they are enjoying the show! I had two days off before the crazy weekend to spend some quality time with my Titten Schwester, Gloria Viagra, and get some rest. Because by the time Friday rolled around, it was non-stop. I did a cabaret show at Axel Hotel which was gorgeous. I love it when people can sit and watch the show and all eyes are on you (me lol) and not Grindr! Axel Hotel is a gay hotel in the heart of GayTown, so if you’re ever heading over there, remember that. Then I ran over to SchwuZ where Gloria was DJing to do a little show. Ran into another dear drag friend, Gerome Castell. She is outrageous and we were screaming with laughter. After about two hours of sleep, I was on a train to Frankfurt for a show at a gay bar there, CK Lounge. Amanda Lepore had been there recently and they were still talking about how much they love her. I didn’t know it, but they also import porn stars to perform. So during my last song, “You’re A Whore”, they came onstage and started to jerk off. I was quite amazed as you don’t really see that in NYC -- lol. Talk about stealing focus! A clown cannot compete with an 8” uncut boner - let alone three of them!! One actually shot a load into the audience and I was like, “Watch the shoes, bitch!” Another two hours of sleep, another train back to Berlin, and off to my Sunday night shows. I went to the O-Ton Theatre to be a part of a large show celebrating the 50th birthday of my friend, Elke. Lots of queens were there, some I hadn’t seen in years, and it was so fun to catch up and watch them perform. There’s a group of 5 queens called O-Ton Piraten and they are marvelous. Then I had a little vampire nap (that’s when you take everything off but the makeup and lie on your back snoozing while remaining slightly conscious to avoid turning your head thus smearing your make up). Then I was off to GMF - the biggest, funnest gay dance party in Berlin. I absolutely adore performing here. The crowd is crazy and fun and very supportive. I had four dancers and we turned it out. Then I had a few drinks with Gloria and the gang and finally slept. Danke Deutschland! I returned from Germany just in time to recover and

BIGNEWS:

get ready for one of my favorite nights of the year: The Annual Bar d’O Reunion show at Indochine. This was the 8th Anniversary of our reunion show and, as always, it was packed, packed, packed. Everyone is so happy and it really is a celebration. Joey Arias, Flotilla DeBarge and I did three full sets and just laughed and sang our butts off! Mary Wilson, one of the original Supremes, was there and loved the show! Joey and I made the cover of the Style Section of the NY Times - hello hunty! Flew to NC the next morning for a nice, relaxing Jewish Christmas with my parents. Lol! We have a Christmas tree, bacon for breakfast and ham for dinnershalom! I needed to recharge my battery so four days of eating and sleeping and playing games was the perfect answer. I hope everyone had a great holiday!! From NC I jetted down to Miami (80 degrees, thank u!) for a show at Scores. I always have fun at Scores, one of the nicest staff anywhere! Of course, it was absolutely beyond crowded with tourists and lots of gays from NYC actually. I did a little show and then hung out at the bar yakking and boozing it up - soooo fun!! I know it’s not in HK, but there’s a great show every Sunday at 9pm at Uncle Charlie’s. Venture over there and catch a live singing set by the wonderful Jacqueline Dupree and special guests. I was there last night and Jackie had several great artists performing with her; Mila Jam and Spiky Hilton among them. DJ Gomi was spinsational!! And the lovely Maurice Ross was hosting and then tinkled on the piano all night. Isn’t it time for piano bars to be the hot destination again?? I’m ready! Happy New Year and Best Wishes to everyone for a great 2013!! MEOW! The Sherry Vine Show every Wed at Industry at Midnight!!!
