OCtech Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College
The Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Presidential Scholars Program is a unique, oneyear honors program designed for recent high school graduates attending college for the first time who plan to obtain a four-year degree. Participants must have at least a 3.0 high school grade point average and meet OCtech’s requirements to take transfer-level college courses. Students participating in the program will take 30 or more hours of general education courses that will transfer to their chosen four-year college or university based on customized, preferential advising provided by trained OCtech faculty. Your academic advisor will work with the Admissions Office of your chosen transfer college to develop your course plan. (Admission to certain programs may have separate or additional requirements.)
What other benefits can a student expect from The Presidential Scholars Program at OCtech? TUITION SAVINGS Attending one year at OCtech can save a student thousands of dollars! In fact, an entire year of college at OCtech costs less than just one semester at most four-year colleges. Semester costs for tuition only (based on 2013-14 figures): OCtech (county residents)
OCtech (out-of-county residents) $ 2316 University of South Carolina

In addition, students who have received the Life Scholarship can attend OCtech for little to no cost as the scholarship covers almost all tuition and fees!
Quality Educational Experiences nOCtech offers courses guaranteed to transfer to four-year colleges and universities that demonstrate the same quality and high-expectations of the transfer colleges. nParticipants will attend a weekly seminar class designed to prepare them for transfer. Topics will include study skills, time management, financial literacy, employability skills, and many others. nParticipants will build an electronic portfolio of their work and activities while students at OCtech. This work will meet the general education documentation requirements now in effect at many four-year colleges. nParticipants will be given an opportunity to complete a summer internship at a local business OR complete a study abroad tour for college credit. nParticipants will learn leadership skills by participating in campus and community service activities. nParticipants will complete job shadowing activities, learn from guest speakers including local business leaders, and attend educational seminars. nStudents will participate in tours of their chosen transfer college during which they will meet faculty and students, sit in on a class at the college, and talk with academic and financial aid advisors. nStudents will build a network of friends in the program as they learn, work, and have fun together.
nDo you want to be a part of something special that sets you apart from the rest of the crowd? nDo you want to be the best student you can be? nDo you want to really get ready for your time at a four-year college or university? nDo you want to make a difference in your community, state, or country? nDo you want to save thousands of dollars while still working toward your educational goals?
