Our Best December Ever We have terrific news to share with you. Ocean Reef Club posted its best December for real estate in its history. A record $58 million in real estate transactions were recorded between December 1, 2012 and January 15, 2013. It’s an unprecedented volume of sales activity, and we see it as a harbinger of a great 2013 ahead. Real estate sales at Ocean Reef correlate closely with the U.S. GDP change. As the economy goes, so goes Ocean Reef, and all of us are looking forward to a tremendously positive year. For many buyers, the decision to purchase a home at Ocean Reef is based both on our unequaled lifestyle and the financial strength of our Club. Ocean Reef offers the best value proposition of South Florida private clubs by far. While many of our record-setting year-end transactions were at the upper end of the market—seven were above $2 million and four were above $7 million—there are excellent listings

in every category. We have also seen movement in condominiums, including seven recent transactions priced between $1.2 and $1.85, as well as five smaller two-bedroom units under 1300 square feet that have closed between $525,000 and $625,000. Historically, real estate transactions at Ocean Reef are low during the month of December and January. However, this past December and January we’ve seen an unprecedented amount of real estate sales and properties being placed under contract to the total of almost $60M. This is an extraordinary and historic amount of real estate sales and Russell Post Sotheby’s International Realty is proud to have been a part of 24 out of 29 real estate transactions in these two months. As always, the market starts with the high end properties selling first. This was again the case, but the momentum is spreading among most categories in our market, which is a healthy sign. In just two months, we have already sold half of what was sold at Ocean Reef in the 2012 season. We are learning that our buyers are now more comfortable with having a greater portion of their capital invested in hard assets and they are pleased with the Ocean Reef Club and community, its security, operations and fiscal responsibility. all records for both the dollar volume and number of sales. While we expect a lot of visitors during the Christmas period, it does not always show up in actual sales as it did this year. The Ocean Reef Community Foundation is pleased to announce “an extraordinary and generous gift on the part of Mary Lee Presents Ocean Reef Properties that will benefit Ocean Reef charities and the entire Ocean Reef Community for years to come,” according to Chairman Alan Goldstein. Last week the leadership of Mary Lee Presents Ocean Reef Properties committed to donate a percentage of each real estate transaction to charity through the Ocean Reef Community Foundation. On Monday, December 24, the organization had already presented the first resulting donation to the Foundation (pictured). The impetus for the unprecedented donation commitment came back in July when Mary & John Lee met with

As new owners, the Lees immediately began the endeavor with Managing Broker Dickinson with the thoughts of how to better serve the Ocean Reef Community. “One significant item on the table,” says President John Lee, “was the franchise fee that had been paid to Prudential. We began thinking about donating this fee to the Ocean Reef Community Foundation then.” “We believe the Ocean Reef Club is the finest private club in the country,” says Mary Lee, also an agent. At 67 years young and with four generations of families loving the Club, Ocean Reef is truly unparalleled. “We are committed to this Club and to this special community.”

She continues, “We have been delighted to be a Preferred Partner with the Ocean Reef Community Foundation and a Platinum Sponsor of the All Charities Auction Weekend from the beginning. Building on this longtime relationship with this outstanding organization was the perfect choice to benefit the whole community.” “But,” adds John Lee, “We agreed to wait until a time this would become significant. After reaching the one hundred million dollar mark in the listings we decided it was time to meet with the Foundation and make it official.” The decision on the charities ultimately receiving the funds through this effort will be made by the Ocean Reef member who

has listed their home and, in many cases, also the purchaser. The funds will come from Mary Lee Presents Ocean Reef Properties and be delivered to the Ocean Reef Community Foundation after each closing. Foundation President Steve Markel remarked, “We believe this program will have a major impact over time and be very meaningful to the Foundation, local charities and the community. We appreciate the Lees’ generosity and are grateful that they have chosen to continue to partner with the Foundation in their philanthropy and dedication to serving our community.”
