HEALTHY LIVING Swim Lessons PARENT/CHILD

YOUTH SWIM LESSONS

PARENT CHILD I/II (Ages 6 Months-3 Years)

Youth Swim Lessons will give children the opportunity to learn in a student-centered environment where each child can learn skills at his/her own pace focusing on personal growth, stroke development, water sports and more!

The Parent/Child Swim Lesson Program provides children with the opportunity to become adjusted to the aquatic environment. For each class there must be a parent or trusted adult in the pool with the child. This level uses the process of repetition of skills, songs and games, and is designed to make your child’s first water experience safe and fun. Swim diapers are to be used for all children who are not potty-trained, we also recommend using plastic diapers over the swim diapers.

GOLDFISH (Ages 2-3) The Goldfish swim lesson program will provide some of our youngest swimmers with the opportunity to transition from parent/child swim lessons to our progressive group lessons. Goldfish classes will be limited to a 1 instructor for every 4 swimmer ratio. Classes will be based around play and helping build each child’s confidence. Parents may get in the water to help transition.

PRESCHOOL SWIM LESSONS The preschool swim lesson program provides children with an opportunity to learn skills at his/her own pace. Children are not forced to do any skill, but encouraged to try when they are ready. All classes are taught with a variety of instructional flotation devices. Our ratios are 5:1 for these levels.

PIKE (Ages 3-5) This is a beginner level class for non swimmers. Flotation devices are used at this level.

EEL (Ages 3-5) This class is for children who can swim on their own with a flotation device and can swim unassisted for 15 feet.

RAY-STARFISH (Ages 4-5) This class is for preschoolers who are comfortable swimming on their own on their stomach and their back, can go underwater and are getting ready to move on to the progressive swim lessons. This is an advanced level swim class.

POLLIWOG (Ages 6-12) This is a beginner level class. Class ratio 6:1

GUPPY (Ages 6-12) An advanced beginner class for those who can swim 30ft on their front/back without a personal flotation device or if they have completed the Polliwog level. Class ratio 6:1

MINNOW-FISH (Ages 6-12) This is an intermediate level for those who can swim unassisted 1 length of the pool freestyle with rhythmic breathing, 1 length of the pool of backstroke, or having successfully completed the Guppy level. Class ratio 10:1

FLYING FISH-SHARK (Ages 8-12) This is an advanced level class for those who can swim 2 lengths of freestyle and backstroke without stopping and have completed our Minnow-Fish program. Class is based on a swim team style workout. Using drills and distance work to build confidence and endurance. Class ratio 12:1

PRE-SWIM TEAM (Ages 6-12) This class is a stepping stone for swimmers who may be interested in transitioning from our progressive swim lessons and possibly joining our Swim Teams. This class will include introduction to Butterfly and completion of the Breaststroke. Swimmers will practice more advanced racing techniques, underwater streamline, starts and proper flip turns for each stroke. Not only will this class serve as a place to learn and build confidence, but swimmers and parents will get a glimpse to see what it is like to be on swim team. Westerly Dolphin Pups Pre Swim Team Once a Week: Saturday’s 10:00-11:00am Members $70 • Program Participants $140 Twice a Week: Tuesday’s/Thursday’s 4:00-4:45pm Members $125 • Program Participants $250 Mystic Little Sharks Pre Swim Team Once a Week: Friday’s 4:15-5:00pm Members $70 • Program Participants $140 Twice a Week: Monday’s/Wednesday’s 4:15-5:00pm Members $125 • Program Participants $250
