The involvement of unaccompanied foreign minors in the reality of everyday life at reception centers: a look from both points of view.

Objectives and index terms 

To analyze the institutional, social, political and economic framework in which unaccompanied foreign minors (UFM) are cared for on the island of Tenerife.

To determine the perception that the residents closest to the reception centers have regarding the presence of UFM in their municipality.

To describe the perception that UFM have regarding the impact their presence has on the people of Tenerife in general, and on the residents of the towns where the reception centers are located in particular.

To show, characterize and quantify the activities that UFM engage in to interact with the local population.

To identify those indicators that favor interaction with the local population and improve the perception of its members toward the presence of UFM.

To establish strategies for improving the design and development of mechanisms and instruments that enhance the participation of UFM in the community and gradually lead to their integration in Tenerife society as well as in their transition to adult life.

Methodology The goal of the project on the involvement of unaccompanied foreign minors in the reality of everyday life at reception centers is to study that part of Tenerife’s population whose job it is to care for these individuals or who are members of the community in which said reception centers are housed.
