THE COMMEMORATIVE CANCELS During the Soviet postal authority only 2 commemorative cancels were used in the Zakarpatska Oblast. The first one was devoted to the 20th anniversary of the incorporation of Carpatho Ukraine into the USSR. This was employed at the Ujgorod post office only on 09-06-1965. Although some literature mention that only red ink was used for this commemorative stamp, it also appears in violet as can be seen from the example below.

Cover issued on the same occasion as the commemorative cancel. It is very philatelic inspired and was never posted.

Same cover, but with a violet commemorative cancel. It was sent on 09-06-1965 from Ujgorod to the well known Czechoslovak expert Miroslav Blaha. The postage for a R-cover to Czechoslovakia was the same as for domestic R-Covers and amounted to 10 kop. Tariff period 01-01-1961 until 01-01-1991

A second commemorative cancel was used at Ujgorod during the XIX international Sport Days for students from 30-06-1990 until 03-07-1990.
