is universally acclaimed. The Law School’s first-rate faculty con-
tinue to build the intellectual foundations for the international and national legal rules and institutions needed in the 21st century. The new Institute for International Law and Justice, with its extraordinary set of research centers, programs, and innovative degree structures, consolidates the collective enterprise of the permanent and global faculty, an impressive group of specialist J.D. and graduate students, and dynamic visiting researchers. Alongside the highly successful Jean Monnet Center for International and Regional Economic Law & Justice, NYU Law this year launches the Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, the Program in the History and Theory of International Law, and the Research Program on Legitimacy and Democracy in International Governance, administered by the new Institute. These initiatives build on the Hauser Global Law School Program’s pioneering transformation of legal education, and further strengthen NYU Law’s leading role in research on global legal issues and the training of lawyers for a globalized world.
