CLOUDSí INDEFINABLE PRESENCE was
captured by RenÈ Magritte, whose 1955 painting ëëClear Ideasíí (17) juxtaposes the spiritual and physical realms. Just as otherworldly, Wout Wessemiusís Le Nuage pendant light (19) brings the great outdoors inside with a diaphanous frame that resembles cotton wool; and the designer Simon Porte Jacquemusís take was chilly and utilitarian for fall (16). To make his ëëNimbusíí series, the artist Berndnaut Smilde uses a fog machine (20); Kohei Nawa opted for soapy bubbles in his ëëFoamíí installation last year (15). Fernando and Humberto Campana combined function with cherubic design: Behold the Cipria sofa for Edra (18), the perfect place to rest your wings.
